When I was a nanny I found that 4-6 weeks out was the sweet spot, except for jobs starting either at the start of summer or end of summer in which case people planned a bit further out. I met soooo many people though who tried to find someone in advance and had the person bail because they needed work sooner or they were offered a better gig. We'll want roughly 30 hours a week, primarily to watch a 3 month old while I work and then to also pick up the toddler from school and be home to catch our oldest from the bus. She'd be in charge of all 3 for around 1.5 hours each day. </p> <p>When would you start looking for a nanny? Wait until the summer? Or sooner? </p>
