I want them to know that we consider them one of ours and give them room to build their own lives and make their own choices but to know that we are always there to support them. That's how DH and I feel about our respective set of in-laws, and I hope that we learn from them. They're both laid back but still uberly loving. They make us meals when we ask and are always willing to help with no questions asked! But they aren't overbearing when they do have a small request.
