Yes! Even if it is clearly a dress, if its not bright pink or purple, people seem to assume she's a boy.

And she's not often in bright pink.

@dreamocracy: I love that story! I should get a blue bow for DS.

DS has a bright blue shirt that matches his eyes, but every time he wears it I get comments about what a gorgeous girl he is. Not a big deal, but funny.

Today a little girl asked if he was a boy or a girl. She explained that she was confused by his "ponytail" - in other words, he had a giant cowlick because he had been napping in the stroller!

Occasionally this happens! It happened when I had her in this outfit: http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/d/l225/m/mDvNh9rDfHzYKnHvWHSh7hg.jpg

I have a friend who put a blue bow on her daughter's head and people kept referring to her as "he/him" and when she said her DD is a girl they got all offended and said "well why would you put a BLUE bow on her?!" as if anyone would put bows on a boy's head..

LO could be dressed head to toe in pink and purple, but people think she is a boy because she has practically no hair and she also won't tolerate anything being in what little hair she does have (bows, headbands, etc.) I just laugh!

I've never had anyone mistake LO for a boy, even though we have a blue stroller, blue nursery, and blue A&A blanket set. I don't know why, because my husband insisted everyone would think she's a boy.

Buuuttttt..... She's almost always in a headband or bow in her hair.

Surprisingly, she's never once been confused for a boy, even though I dress her in fairly gender neutral clothing much of the time. It's surprising because I think MOST babies are quite androgynous looking, really, and I don't feel she was any exception. I think the reason she never got any boy comments was because she has super delicate features and has always had a ton of hair - even though boys can have both of those!!

So, I have a boy (just thought this thread was interesting), but we were at a neighbor's party in the beginning of the summer. It was before we buzzed LO's hair short, and he has super curly hair when it's longer. He had a yellow shirt on with a turtle, and a woman mistook him for a girl. When my DH corrected her, she was like, "Well, you shouldn't dress him in yellow if he's a boy!" and walked away

Seriously lady?? I get that people mistake him for a girl sometimes with his hair longer and all curly, but telling us that it's our fault for dressing him in yellow??

When I put my daughter in pink ruffles and bows people still assume she's a boy. We actually got the comment 'he's going to be a hell of a linebacker' (she is a big baby) while she was in a mainly pink outfit with bows on it.
