I've never been to the States so I can't comment on your tea - I'm sure it is of exceptional quality! </p> <p>But here is the correct (haha) way to make tea: </p> <p>1) Select a good quality, black tea such as Darjeeling or English Breakfast. Tea bags are perfectly acceptable IMO although some people do prefer loose tea. </p> <p>2) Boil the water using a kettle. Microwaved or water heated to less than boiling point is not acceptable. This is the most frequent cause of insipid tea! </p> <p>3) Select your tea pot. Bone china tea pots make the best tea but you will need a "cosy" (a little hat with holes for the handle and spout) as bone china tea pots lose heat quite quickly - and you don't want your second cup to be rancid, now!</p> <p>4) When the kettle is boiling, pour some of the water into the tea pot and slosh it around. This warms the pot. Discard the water immediately and pop the kettle back on to ensure the water is still boiling.....</p> <p>5) Measure your tea into your tea pot. The convention, if you are using tea bags, is one tea bag per person and one for the pot! If you are using loose, you will need to know the capacity of your pot to ensure you measure the correct amount. </p> <p>6) Pour boiling water over your tea. It has to be boiling water! Replace the lid and pop the tea cosy on. </p> <p>7) Allow your tea to brew for 5 minutes. Stir the tea in the pot and then pour into bone china cups. I don't know why but tea tastes best from a bone china cup! If you are using loose tea, don't forget to use a tea strainer (small sieve) when you pour! </p> <p>8) Add a little milk and perhaps some sugar to taste. Overdoing the milk is another classic tea faux pas! If I'm in a hotel I usually miss my pillow. I like flat pillows and they're always so fluffy and big in hotels. I also miss having multiple rooms to go to. When we put LO to bed we have to be super quiet, so DH will sit there and play on our phones.
