I would - even as a SAHM, my son is doing mother's day out 2x a week and I plan to keep him doing that even if I SAH after #2.

She won't.... but she's not in daycare yet. She'll be 2 1/2 when baby #2 is born and we're thinking she'll start preschool at 3. If she was already in daycare I think I'd want to keep her in at least part time just because she is very into routines and schedules.... I wouldn't want to mess with all of that.

@T.H.O.U.: good idea. i need to ask what the policy is. i definitely can't lose the spot, but saving some money would be aweeeesome.

balancing a semi-toddler and newborn alone makes me nervous!

Yep!

My older daughter stayed in full time (which was just 4 days/week) for 5 months, then we found out we were moving, and decided she would go down to 2.5 days to accommodate a new kid starting. It was awesome. Not going to lie. Good for her to get some attention without kid sis around, good for the babe and I to bond and good for my mental health with a kind of jealous big kid to balance with a new baby.

I may ask about reducing her down to part time which could hold her spot but free up money for us.

I am tempted to continue to keep DS in daycare for the six weeks I'll be off and keep him home with me and the baby to save money. But, I haven't even asked daycare if I can just pull him out for six weeks in the middle of the year. It would be really nice to save 600+ bucks for a month when in a month and a half when he goes back we'll be paying $1200 for both of them.
