We are having a venue party for DS at an indoor playroom in the afternoon. The package includes a fruit plate and drinks for kids (we will provide cake) but nothing for adults and we can't bring outside food other than cake. That said, I'm at least going to open a drinks tab so parents can have tea and coffee.

Food for everyone. I think it depends on what kind of food you are doing and what time of day - if it is not a meal time I think you can get away with less food assuming not everyone will eat. But better to err on more than not enough!

@regberadaisy: We're doing LO's party at a kids gym too and the package only includes pizza, drinks and cakes for the kids! We're bringing in finger foods and sodas for the grown ups too because I feel so weird about not having anything on hand for the grow ups.

we went to a 2nd bday party yesterday at a play gym, and the kids all sat at the table and ate but the staff brought food around for the parents too even though we were crouched behind our kids on the floor, haha, i;ve also been to a party at a chuck e cheese and it was similar--they had food for the parents

eta I was really hungry after chasing lo around, lol! I was really happy with my pizza and cupcake :silly:

i ran into this dilemma for LO's second birthday when we did his party at an indoor playground type of place. All the birthday packages offered did not include food for adults. i thought it was strange and annoying, and i had to pay extra to have some extra snacks and coffee. One pot of coffee was included but i knew it wouldn't be enough.

Never had one, but those I've been to just ordered pizza and had snack trays and cake for everyone. I'd be pretty bummed to chase my kid around and go hungry :bummed:

Haha I took DD1 to her first outside venue (kids gym) party today for a daycare friend. It was pizza, chips, juice and cake for the kids. Just the kids. Parents weren't even offered a drink. I honestly am always the type to be prepared, so I had a bottled water in my purse. Good thing because I was pretty thirsty!

Good to know it's not the norm because I couldn't see not including parents either!

ETA: I didnt really care either way because I wasn't expecting to eat lunch there. She had a TON of fun though! :)

I always have enough food for the parents. People always eat! I have been to parties where there was no food for the parents and I was pretty annoyed. And starving.

I've usually seen it where the kids are served food at the table. There is WAY too much food for the kids. Then the parents scrounge but not everyone eats. For example, there would be a slice of pizza or two for each parent but not a full meal. But I've only been to venues that had pizza at non-meal times.

I have never seen a parent eat at a party. I mean sure, it is always offered, but usually, the parents are standing at the back and the kids are seated at the table. These are at places that are not restaurants fwiw. It's like tumble places, gyms, bounce places etc.

And you're providing food, do you include the parents? Let's assume it's not a restaurant and you're providing a "meal" and not just snacks and cake.

Just wondering what the "norm" is.
