While we'll be totally happy with whatever we get the next time around, DH and I are both hoping for a boy. It's to the point where we will probably do the Shettles method to get a boy. I would also be *thrilled* to have two girls, but if that's what happens I'm sure there will be a little bit of initial disappointment before we get used to the idea.

I usually hear disappointment about not having a girl. I was the opposite. I would like a boy but I'm ok either way now.

I don't know anyone in my life that felt disappointed, and we didn't when we found out LO#1 was a girl. We will find out what LO#2 is in a few weeks and I'll be happy either way, but DH's fam keeps annoyingly saying they hope it's a boy.

Everyone I know wanted a girl. I feel, around here, girls are by far the favorite. Which kinda bums me out because I have 2 boys and they are amazing!

The few cases I've heard have wanted boys and had girls, and now they can't imagine it any other way. Both cases were first-borns.

I think the few people I knew that were disappointed wanted girls and had boys. I had a few people express that they hoped we were having a girl (team green) but I was so thankful that we had a boy.

@deerylou, DH said the same about having a boy first! I told him that was so sexist and old fashioned! Maybe it stems from him being the little brother to an older sister :)

My husband was slightly disappointed because he would have preferred a boy, then a girl. Now our daughter is such a daddy's girl that he barely even remembers feeling that way.

I've known very few people IRL that have expressed any sort of gender disappointment. However, the very few that did, wanted girls, but went on to fall completely in love with their sons.

We genuinely didn't have a preference; I hope to eventually have at least one of each, but I'd also be fine with all gals, too. I had a strong feeling from the get-go that this LO was a girl, and admittedly got a little attached to the idea. Most of our friends and family were super pumped, but I did get a strange comment from one; "Oh, I really hope my first baby is a boy. That way, he can be a mentor, and protect his younger siblings."

While I find big brothers just as sweet as the next person, I plan on raising my daughter to be confident and assertive enough to take care of herself. I don't see why she wouldn't be able to adequately mentor and protect her younger siblings, either.

I hear more wanting boys! But a lot of my friends/acquaintances had girls first and I don't know what they wanted the first time!

I also had some weird comments about having a girl from a lot of IRL people along the lines of "you can have a boy next time." I actually had always wanted boys until I got pregnant and then I wanted either, but none of the people who made those comments were people I told...so strange!!

Is it usually about not getting a boy or girl?

Most of my friends who have admitted disappointment wanted girls. They have two, three or four sons.

One of my friend's DH was bummed when he found out #2 was a girl....he really wanted one of each!
