Normally, you have to take the baby out of the hospital in the car seat. Because there were two of them, that meant that DH had to sit in a wheel chair holding one of the carseats while a little bitty nurse wheeled him through the delivery wing. It. Was. Awesome. I had a c/s so it helped. I had to leave LO for an extra day bc of jaundice issues and when I came back the next day, I walked in and walked out even though I was in similar pain. I think the policy in most hospitals in Canada is needs-based rather than liability-based. I did get wheeled from the entrance to the birth centre (by DH, at my request) bc my contractions were coming so close, and I was in a lot of pain. Once I was admitted, they had me walk to my L&D room, but it was a very short walk, and I still had to stop along the way. They were very big on getting me to walk all over the place and I'm glad they did.
