Tiny Hands games on the iPad - teaches LO skills (sorting, shapes, colors) and is interactive so doesn't *really* fall under 'screen time' (which is often an issue because it's passive... but educational iPad games are interactive so affect the brain differently). Or just let her watch TV if i'm really desperate, lol.

@Bao: When DD was little I'd put her in her crib with a few toys. When she was older, I'd make her a smorgasbord of yummy snacks and put on her fav show - bought myself 20 mins of me time!

I let her use the iPad, she is so into toy reviews or Taylor Swift music videos so I usually can get 30 minutes to an hour of me time when I need it.

If I need a minute, I turn on a movie for DS and that'll settle him down for a bit. Preferably a movie he's already seen, otherwise, he'll ask me "what's that? what happened mommy? Who's that?" the first 15 minutes.

I let DD "mix"... I set her up in her chair at the island, give her two bowls, measuring cups and a spoon, some water, some oats, some flour or a few choc chips or a few pieces of uncooked pasta and let her "mix" .. keeps her busy for a good 10-15 mins if not longer. Of course there is some mess that I have to clean up after but it's worth it for some free minutes :) To add time I give her uncooked spaghetti, she loves to break it up into tiny pieces and add it to her "mixture"....

TV. He's usually sitting right next to me watching, but it's an easy way to get a few minutes to read a book and not have constant demands on me.

I give my kid food and sit and read while he eats (usually on my phone like now). Sometimes he'll sit by himself sometimes he's on my lap. Food right now is the only sure way to get a break but other times of peace are slowly coming.

The bathroom. I get a magazine and take 5 minutes and shut the door. Usually my LO is on the other side of it banging on the door and sticking items underneath, but at least he's not clinging onto any part of me :silly:

How do you give yourself one? Staying at home, and especially now during these winter months, I'm feeling the cabin fever. I feel like I'm losing my patience easier these days, but find if I give myself a minute it really helps. It becomes difficult though because the girls always like to be right where I am. So I'm curious, if you need a minute to yourself, how do you get that minute? What does your LO do?
