@Mrs. Jacks: I hope you get some sleep tomorrow! When DH was working night shift, he'd stay up all day Monday, work Monday night, and go to bed Tuesday morning. At the end of the week, he'd work Thursday night, stay up all day Friday, and go to bed Friday night so he could spend the weekend on the kids' schedule. Ugh, it was miserable!

So, I lied...not quite an all-nighter. Translation: 4 hours of sleep!! Woo hoo :)

@mrsmenow: Enjoy your night :)

When i worked double I would work 11-7am, try to be asleep by 10(ish), sleep until 2, and then up & at work for 3:30-10:30pm and straight to the other job.

I try to leave early on days I pulled an all nighter the night before. I'm usually exhausted by the afternoon. If I can't leave early, I'll usually fall asleep as soon as I get home or after dinner. Like 7pm ish. (7pm bedtime is extremely early for me... I usually go to bed around midnight.)

I sleep the next day! Sleep is too precious to pass up but i have had that euphoric feeling of not beig tired when you do stay up instead if sleep.. But for me it catches up with me hard the next day :(

I haven't done a legit all nighter but worked till 4 a.m. and then had to be at work at 8 a.m. I try and leave work early and get to bed early if I worked really late the night before, but that doesn't usually work.

When I worked night shift (7p-7a) and I didn't work the next night (I would sleep all day if I did work that night again, of course), I would sleep a few hours (4 at most) when I got home and then force myself to stay awake the rest of the day and then go to bed early. It worked. But overall, I was miserable. I felt like absolute crap all the time. I hope you fare better! I, for one, will avoid ever working a night shift again if I can help it!!!

I can't think of a time I have pulled an actual all nighter b/c of work. Very few hours of sleep though? Definitely.

Hope you get some rest soon!

Yep! I try to stay up and plan to got to bed with LO. What makes them extra trixxies now is the additional sleep deprivation on top of LO's multiple night wakings.

Hmmm...this is a timely question, as I'm not sleeping tonight, in all likelihood. I usually try to stay up, unless I start getting really nauseous. Then all bets are off, and I try to take an hour nap and go to bed early the next day.

Hope you get some sleep soon!

When I pulled night shifts I was usually up most the day the next day with a short nap after lunch. Of course the night shifts I pulled were always ontop of my previous days day shift so when they happened I was too tired to really fall asleep the next morning anyways. =/

When you pull an all nighter for work, do you try and stay up the whole next day? I do all night shifts once or twice a month in addition to my regular day work. I usually try to sleep but had meetings all day today and didn't have that luxury. I can't tell if I feel better, worse or the same as usual, but this sure is better for the girls :)

What do you do?
