Especially MIL - that woman is a dish-washing machine! My parents always stay to help clean up too, and come early to help set-up. Green eggs and ham (spinach mini quiches). If you give a mouse a cookie - Chocolate chip cookies. Very Hungry Caterpillar - Strawberries on a bed of lettuce (leaves). Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs - Crockpot Meatballs. Goldfish - The Rainbow Fish. Decorations - balloons and streamers and a sign that says Happy 3rd Birthday. Stack some books on top of one another around the party area. Make books your centerpiece. For favors - print out bookplates on cardstock (find designs online) and print each child's name on them. Give each child 5 or so bookplates in a bag with a book from the dollar spot at Target. The guests will involve mostly family and friends but there will be some children (older). I need to design the invite, send them out, then DIY whatever I can - easy to make foods, decorations, goodie bags, etc. We're doing a book-themed party, to (hopefully) help build up DS's library with longer page books. There aren't any decorations. My mom and MIL help me with cleaning and food prep. DH and BIL prepare the crawfish, and my guests bring an appetizer. Once I'm throwing kids parties I'm sure I will still have help from Mom and MIL. Call on a gaggle of friends? Get an event planner? Or do you mostly DIY it? I'm typically the DIY route with a little help from my mom on the day of. This year, though, with my busy schedule I wish I had more Bees who lived closer to help me out!
