I felt weird because we invited both our friends and also family, and I really didn't feel like I wanted our friends to buy LO gifts. But I knew our family would buy her gifts regardless of what we said and I felt like our friends would feel weird if I told them not to bring a gift then other people did. In the end we just didn't say anything because I figured they could always just get her some $20 thing and call it a day, NBD. Examples... no gifts or do you ask for specific gifts/donations/guidelines, etc?</p> <p>We never mention gifts with our invites but maybe I will in the future. I usually recommend books or send an Amazon wish list link if anyone asks for ideas when they RSVP. I've seen a range of requests included with invites...no gifts, no plastic toys, books only, specific charitable contributions, contributions for college funds, no boxed gifts, etc! </p>
