My mom sends me pics of DS2 every day. I love getting them. I don't think I got too many. My favourite thing though for the first few months was Skype at lunch time for 5 or so minutes. I was able to do that with our nanny and LO was 12 months so he could communicate. Once he started daycare at 20 months I obviously couldn't Skype anymore (and was not doing it daily at that point) and the daycare does not send pics. But they put them up around thr classroom so I liked looking at them in the morning with LO. I'm so scared my LO will be unhappy in daycare. Like you they just made me depressed and it made pumping so much harder than it already was. After I got into the routine of back to work I loved seeing pictures. It took some time though. I was really busy at work and the day flew by. I liked knowing that he was happy! I was a teacher, though, so I couldn't check my phone all the time. I would check every couple of hours and I loved getting little updates. It's kinda like if a kid takes their first step it doesn't count until mom sees. DH does daycare drop off and I still request pics (my LOs are now 3 and 1.5).. He doesn't always do them/have time, though.. Sometimes it's just a couple a week and sometimes a few a day. I only want pics if everyone is happy, lol. If the three year old is throwing tantrums whoever is watching her can keep those memories! :P Their preschool has a blog and I'd like to see a pic or two of her in it sometime though. In terms of day to day pictures, when I have worked in the past or have just been away for awhile (trip, hospital stays, etc) I think I appreciate updates more than pictures, just because I like to be reassured that everything is going ok. But pictures are good too because I figure if the caregiver felt compelled to take pics then everything must be going well and not too hectic. I guess if I got to choose, 1 picture a day or a few a week would be nice. I can see how too many would be tough, especially if you are already struggling with being away from your babies for the first time. Now that LO is in daycare I LOVE getting pics, but I can see how 'too many' photos would start to be not so great. 1 or 2 a day would be enough. Now I get maybe 1 a week. I think he got this suggestion from his dad friends. I understand where he was coming from because maybe other parents love pictures, but the pictures actually made me more sad that I wasn't home with them. :meh: Did you like a lot of pictures and updates or just few, when you went back to work?
