I didn't do anything! I figure I'll just replace some parts for baby #2.

Honestly, I didn't do anything. I have a closed system, so I threw everything in the dishwasher, and then shoved my pump bag under my bed. Since insurance covers a new pump every year and my current pump has A LOT of miles on it, I think I will just get a new one next time. Which reminds me - I really should donate my old pump...

Mine is a closed system and my insurance covers new parts every year, so I'll probably get new parts. I'm hoping to switch to a different pump next time though, so we'll see.

@mrsjyw: I didn't do anything extra between storing it for baby 1 and 2 - I did buy new tubing, valves, and membranes though - threw the old ones away!

One of mine is a closed system, so just have to sterilize the normal parts. The other is an open system, and I'm a LITTLE paranoid, but not overly so. I feel confident that milk didn't get into the actual pump, so I'm just going to sterilize the parts and tubing.

i just sterilized it like i normally would. i never thought to take apart the motor or anything. i am not too worried. when/if i use it in the future i will probably re-sterilize everything.

How did you clean it all?

I read an article about open vs closed system pumps yesterday and since mine are both open system pumps... I got paranoid that I didn't clean it well enough.

Thinking about taking the motor apart... even though I never had issues and sterilized all of the other pieces.
