My parents live close so they'll do it, but if for some reason they're unavailable, we have several friends who'd be happy to watch LO. We'd probably check first with the parents of LO's best friend- they're good friends of ours, and since they have one kid LO's age, their house is well-suited for a 2 year old, her clothes fit him if need be, they have diapers, he eats the same things as their kid, etc.
One of LO's daycare buddies is getting a little brother in a month, and we've told the parents (who have no family in the area) that we'd be happy to watch their LO for them during labor and delivery- again, with the idea that their LO can just do/wear/eat the same things as ours.

When the time comes, we will probably have friends watch her until my parents can get here. There's not really any other option.

We have no family in town, and don't really know/trust anyone enough to watch DS. Thank goodness I was induced so that my parents and our in-laws were able to make it for the birth. My in-laws took care of DS while we were in the hospital (which was about 36 hours).

I'm not sure what we'll do, probably just play it by ear. We have my parents and DH's parents here, and LO is pretty shy but loves all of her grandparents. I'll probably call my mom first because they live closer, and then depending on their schedules they'll each take care of her and our pup.

My dad...DS was with my mom when I headed to the birth center, but once I transferred and lost S, I called my mom to be with me, and my dad was home, so he watched DS for those 2 days.

I went into labor with Dd during the day, while I was at work and she was at daycare. Our friends picked her up from daycare, fed her dinner, and kept her entertained until DH went home to put her to bed. Then our friends stayed the night with her, which gave my parents enough time to drive up and take over for them. I originally didn't think we'd need my parents, but I'm so glad they came because I ended up having to stay in the hospital for four days with DS. Our friends could have watched DD for the first couple days, but not that whole time, so it was nice having my parents as backup.

When my friend went in labor with her second, another friend and I watched her son all day while she was at the hospital. We even took him to the hospital to meet his baby sister. Both her family and her in laws live out of town and we were her only option. If you don't have family but have a friend you can trust I don't think you should rule it out!

Seriously, there are so many things I am losing sleep over (I know I shouldn't be, it's too early--but I'm a thinker!) and this is one of them! I would never leave LO with my in laws here and we don't have any other family. I had a precipitous birth with DS and the odds of having an even faster birth with LO2 are really high. Plus, my water broke at 11pm! I guess I could ask a friend to come over and watch DS but not sure what is the best thing to do.
