Both kids are in the same school and bring home 2x the germs. One gets sick and I am still fine. Then the second one gets sick and I get it then. I would share food with her and wipe her nose and whatever. Now with a newborn i try to wash my hands more and not touch the babys face. But its just so tough. Toddler hands are everywhere. I am so paranoid now, not with colds though, just GI stuff. Although I do try to not eat LO's leftover food but sometimes I forget and I eat them. And I got sneezed on, coughed on, and smeared on with saliva and such anyway. I feel that sometimes when I try to avoid it i'd still catch it while other times I won't get it regardless if I was sneezed on day after day. My husband, however, is a drama king. Everytime LO is sick, he went insane. He won't touch him or try to avoid being in the same room with him or if he touched him he would go wash his hands or use disinfectant wipes immediately. And he would whine and whine how life is miserable post-child because of the constant illness. And he never really got sick from LO but he still does that. Grr. He has grown into becoming a germophobic though as he wasn't like that at all when I first knew him. If it's a stomach bug, I take lots of precautions--lots of hand washing for both of us and lots of deep cleaning toys/sheets and blankets she sleeps on/near. Ugh-they are usually short lived so it's easy to take preventive measures for a few days. If it's a cold, I feel like it's usually pointless to take those extra measures. I am either going to get it, or I am immune... I try to wash my hands more when I know the kids are sick, but if L is sick he likes to cuddle and cough in my face. No preventing that unfortunately. The first couple years of Charlie's life, I caught more colds that I did probably in my entire life! Esp since I'm from California and generally have a pretty strong immune system. If the kids are sick, I don't really take extra precautions. I will eat their leftover food. I rarely catch what they have now that my immune system has gotten stronger from having two kids in school. Do you protect yourself when your kids are sick? Do you have a strong/weak immune system?
