@artbee: I posted about this a few weeks ago! DS is 9 months old and we were having similar issues. My LO was also needing the morning nap but protesting the afternoon nap. There were several days where we skipped the afternoon nap completely. Things have since returned to normal and he is back to taking two naps.

we pushed charlie to drop his morning nap at 15 1/2 months because he was able to stay awake longer and longer between his naps which was pushing his bedtime later. a lot of kids don't drop it until they're even older than that, so you probably have a little bit of time. :)

Well LO is currently taking her second nap today and went down super easy. I guess she's not ready to drop a nap yet after all.

it s the morning nap that they drop. most kids take it around 1 (which is when daycares put kids down for naps too). it took charlie weeks to adjust to the new schedule and he would often fall asleep before 1, but that was ok.

can you do something super active in the mornings? that's what we had to do to keep charlie up. he actually got more, better sleep with one nap than he did with two. we can consistently count on a 3 hour nap and that is a really nice stretch!

It was the morning nap. I had to give him lunch by 11am so he could sleep at noon and he'd usually nap until 3 or 3:30 but that didn't happen until 15 months.

10 months was around the time I had to alter his afternoon nap a little later (2:30pm instead of 1pm).

My son dropped the morning nap and was out down earlier for his afternoon nap so it was a little longer.

I've always thought that babies dropped their morning naps. But two afters after my LO is awake in the morning she's exhausted and ready to nap. Her afternoon nap..... is not the same anymore. She'll crawl around in her crib for an hour before falling asleep, and yesterday there was no sleeping at all. Today the plan is to do extra playing and crawling around and keep her up an hour longer than normal before that 2nd nap. I'm not ready to lose it yet!
