@MegWag: Sometimes I do the same with my LO, and he gets so confused that he stops crying.

My LO is at the stage where he just wants his mommy. I just pick him up and hold him tight. He immediately feels better and stops crying. Mommy's little boy.

As soon as they fall we say "yay" and start clapping. I know it sounds silly but they usually look for your reaction. So if you react like it hurt then they cry more. Mind you if they fell really hard and it hurt we always give big hugs too. The "yay" thing works great though.

My husband used to do a big silly fake cry along with his niece and nephew when they were little. It would surprise them and then make them start laughing :)

My lo is still at an age where a tight hug works too. Although I still kiss her boo boo even though she doesn't know why I'm doing it yet. But it makes me feel like I'm helping.

@chopsuey119: I find that when I hold Charlie tight, he usually just keeps crying... maybe I am not holding him tight enough!

HAHA. I love gummi bears. So whenever LO cries I just hold her tight and she stops. Easy peasy :)

For Charlie, I ask him where it hurts and he shows me. Then I ask him if he wants me to kiss it. He usually says "yes", and then I kiss his booboo. Sometimes his booboo is on his foot and I have to kiss those bad boys... but that is the price I pay for asking the question!

The other thing that works is giving Charlie a snack or gummi bear. Those usually distract him right away!
