@sarac: it is fun, especially for me as a first time mom, but I would be lying if I said there weren't moments where I doubled checked the milestone chart
@hellocupcake: I was told mine didn't sleep or grow because of EBF- are people really that ignorant?!
@hellocupcake: @stargal: You guys are right! After all, they only get to be babies once, right?
@googly-eyes: Oh, I forgot to say that- mine is a baldie, too!

In a lot of ways yes! Dd's face looks young. She only has 2 teeth out and 2 more bulges but only 1 seems to be making progress, I think cutting this week. She has been pretty average for physical milestones but had 2 early ones, sttn at 2.5 months (8 hrs, worked up to more, and not 100% of nights), and rolling belly to back and only because she despised tummy time. She is only now starting to self feed and doesn't take a sippy cup most of the time. Aside from being very long she doesn't look like an almost 1 year old at all.

eta and she barely has any hair!

yup P is tall for his age, but he is 13 months and not walking yet and likes to be held. He was always on the slower end for physical milestones, its just how he rolls :)

I think my baby girl is already young for her age at almost 8 months old. No teeth, not crawling, just happy (: I always see how other babies born around the same time as her are crawling already and have teeth and stuff, I don't mind that she gets to be a baby baby a little longer. I also LOVE (aka. Get annoyed) when people tell me she's not learning because she's still EBF and I don't put her down enough. Oh well (: She will crawl, walk and everything else in time. I am just enjoying every non-crying minute of it (:

Lala is a mix too. Everyone is blown away because she looks so young and acts so old. It leaves quite an impression, like yesterday when she was having adult conversations with my colleagues (including the use of the word colleague!)

My daughter was an interesting combination - she looked older because she was so skinny, and she talked very early. But she walked very late, and she has always been slow on her physical stuff. So at 15 months she was speaking in a ton of two word sentences, but still crawling around. I'd get people thinking she was 10 months on minute, and way older the next. It's kind of fun when your child develops in interesting ways, I think.

I was at the zoo and another mom with a toddler girl approached and started chatting. I asked how old her LO was and she responded, " She is 1 year old, a young 1." I knew exactly what she meant when she said it; her LO looked and acted like a younger baby. I loved that description of LOs that aren't breaking any milestone races in size or behavior

My LO isn't 'behind' but has always been petite and takes her time with every stinkin' milestone (except reciprocal play, weird, right?) When we go to the playground, I see sturdy looking toddlers weaving around and even climbing onto the equipment while she and I are still rocking the baby swing. At daycare she is smaller than a particularly large 8 month old and a 14 month old literally runs circles around her. I used to be shocked that the goliath of a toddler who is climbing the jungle gym is the same age as my still little, still babbling, baby faced 15 month LO, but now I expect it.

Anyone else have/had a LO who is 'young' for their age?
