My pup passed recently. He had cancer and dh ended up having to go put him down because he was getting too sick. The emergency vet cremated him and spread his ashes in the pet cemetery. I dont love that idea.... At dog parks he was pretty antisocial. He would go sniff other dogs but then always end up by himself. I like to think his ashes ended up off in the corner somewhere like he likes.

I don't want to think about it but I hope we have a yard to bury my dog. If not, get her cremated so we could take her with us if we move. I know this is weird and I would have never have thought about doing this before having a dog but we have half joked about getting her stuffed. I don't know what we will do when she passes.

We have my old dog's ashes in a small box in the living room of my parents' home. I have a paw print and a lock of her fur at my home as a keepsake. I cried for days when she died and I still miss her even 5 years after she died.
I don't know if we buried the dog we had before her or if the vet took care of it. I was 12 when he died so it didn't occur to me.

@LittleFox: we got a paw print as well. And one of her long, beautiful pieces of fur was stuck in it. Waaaah! I swear, I'll never not be weepy over the passing of that dog. I grew up with a dog, but she was MY first dog. She died from cancer as well, and on the night she passed, I had the impulse to run out of the room. I couldn't stand to see her lifeless. My husband, on the other hand, held her body and cried.

We're in an apartment, and so had no space to bury him when our dog passed away last December. I would have brought him to my parents' house, but I couldn't bear the thought of bringing his body on a 3 hour trip for burial and there was no way I was going to put my sick dog (he had cancer) through a trip like that in his final days (plus, it was very close to my due date with DS). We didn't want his remains, either. It would have been too much for me. Our vet did give us a cast of his paw print, though, and I have it set up next to a nice framed photo.

We don't have a space to do so. A good friend buried her dogs on her family's farm. That seems so nice. I would love to plant a pretty bush at the burial site.

It's funny how people deal with death and grief differently. I didn't want my dog's remains, but my husband did. They're in a little box and I get a lump in my throat whenever I see it, but it brings him comfort.

Yes we will, or we may do it in my parents backyard because they will never move, and we may. So that way, I won't be as sad feeling like we left her behind.

Do you bury them on your property? My family has always done so, and I want to do the same when my dogs pass away. Hopefully that won't be anytime soon.
