@Andrea: yes! Our toddler is so much more whiny/demanding/stubborn when DH is around. I can reason so much better with her on my own.

@Andrea: Yep! I only have one, but she's much better for just me. I usually grocery shop during the week while he's at work, but I thought it would be nice to have the extra hands today. Sadie was a hot mess at the grocery store. She normally just sits in the cart and eats a snack and plays. Tonight she was whining and standing up and throwing things. No more family grocery trips!

YES. I get nothing done on his off days. I mean, I love the family time, but my house is always a disaster on Sunday when he goes back to work.

When I was on mat leave and he'd come home from weeks on the road for work, yes he did! Our girl and I had a routine, and he kept saying I had to do things a different way because he didn't like things. I'm sure he just wanted to be included, but after he left again I went back to our routine because change wasn't good. shhhh

Nope, things are sooo much much easier when DH is home! He completely handles DD 1 which leaves me free to take care of DD 2. And he handled meals and two people doing housework!

DH is home probably off 1 day every week and our schedule gets thrown off, BUT I welcome it! I need a break from the monotony (i sah). We go eat lunch or do something else. Naps happen but not strictly according to schedule.

Depends on what phase DS is going through. Sometimes we work as an awesome team. Sometimes the kid is grumpy and irrational and the only way to keep him calm is to let him do something he's not normally allowed... DH always tries to argue against the rule breaking. And then I walk out the room for ten minutes, and he's given up on trying to calm down DS, seen the reason of my suggestion, and i is letting DS walk around in my rain boots or run off with our pillows :)

DH commutes 2 days a week and then works from home the other days, with 2 days being dedicated to client calls. So we have a range of availability - from not being home at all to needing to keep the baby quiet on certain days to being technically available all day. He does not disrupt our routine really, but his way to DOING the routine just differs from mine is all. Overall, I dread the days he commutes because I'm just used to having a set of hands around here and there and I'm sad for DH when he only gets to see the baby a few minutes on the commute days. Even though he's exhausted on those days (he's gone like 12 hours, with 3+ hours of drive time in traffic), I give him the baby for the last feeding so he can see his son.

Not really - even when he is home I do just about all of the childcare so not much changes there besides having someone to play with her while I do cleaning/cooking. When he works from home, he is in the basement most of the day so there isn't much change there either.

Yes! I always think Saturdays are going to be so nice and easy because he will be home. But our schedule gets totally thrown off. And it kinda bugs me when he acts like it is so hard to get out the door with two kids, when that is what I do by myself everyday!

I don't even have kids yet, but my answer is still yes! DH works long hours and has a long commute, so when he's home, he just wants to relax and watch TV, AND he wants me to relax and watch TV with him! Very sweet, but it's so hard to do when I have a list of things I want to get done.

Home and I loved having him but what a nightmare. He is really bad about disrupting the routine. Love him though and only weekends now so not so bad.

I don't think this is what you mean, but I have morning routine and DH is totally out of the house when I have my routine. So I'll meet my dad, his dad or take LO to school in the morning.

If DH is home at all b/c of a day off or he was going into work late for some reason, it totally throws me off. He definitely tries to help me, but it ends up making me forget something.

I love when my DH is home so we can spend time with him! However, my groove is totally thrown off the days he is home all day. I have a certain way of doing things during the week so that I can keep sane for 12 hours a day alone with the girls. I obviously love the extra set of hands but sometimes it actually takes a little longer to get things done ;)
