I am sick now and do the night routine by myself. I wear a mask, spray Lysol disinfectant spray religiously, wash my hands often and try not to breathe on her.

I do a lot of hand washing, keep windows open for fresh air, and do a lot of Lysol on everything.

Not too much you can do, unfortunately. L just caught a cold from me and I feel so badly about it, but it happened before I even fully realized that I had a cold! If I had realized I would have been washing my hands a ton more, sanitizing a to, etc. Usually when someone is sick I'm constantly going through the house with sanitizing wipes and using them on all commonly touched items - remotes, phones, lightswitches, doorknobs, faucets, etc.

Just lots of hand washing. Try not to touch your face. Don't reuse tissues. Maybe keep hand sanitizer around the house. Wash pacifiers. Drink lots of water!

Echoing the others--not a whole lot you can do. Avoid kisses and wash your hands a lot. A couple months ago I tried this and LO still got sick. :( I think @beaker's idea of a flu mask is good.

We just survived a weekend of both me and my husband having a horrible stomach bug. At one point, we were both laying on the floor of the living room while our daughter played with books next to us. It could not have been more pathetic. In that situation, it was just a struggle to make it to bed time.

Under ordinary circumstances where only one of us is sick or where we're at least more functional than this weekend, we do a lot of sanitizing, I clean all her stuffed animals and all the sheets in the house, and wash my hands and her hands a lot, or at least wipe hers down with baby wipes.

I actually wore a mask when DS2 was freshly home from the hospital and I had a cold! You can buy them at a pharmacy.

I washed my hands more, avoided breathing directly on her, and only kissed her on the back of the head. I'm sorry you are ill! I hope it passes soon.

@Pumuckl: Coincidentally I just bought a microwave sterilizer last night so I'll try to use that...your advice wasn't a no-brainer; when things get hectic the hand-washing can fall to the wayside!

I was also going to say that there is only so much you can do. The washing hands is especially important when touching his bottles either when preparing them or taking them out of the dishwasher etc. (Sorry if that sounds like a no brainer). I also tried to avoid touching the front of the pacifier and steam-sterilized them a little more often. If I had to cough I tried coughing into my elbow instead of my hands.

Ah it sounds like it is what it is then and I'll wash my hands more! And I know exactly where I got it...darn crowded doctors offices!

Just avoided things like kisses and washing my hands a lot, but that kind of stuff is so hard to avoid. I hope you feel better and baby doesn't catch it! <3

The worst is when it's a stomach bug, we all got that one. Problem is sometimes you're incubating and you don't know it.

There is sort of only so much you can do! When LO was 3 weeks old she got a nasty cold which both DH and I got too. He got it before me and I did keep him away from her. But when I got it, nothing to be done! I obviously tried not to cough on her and I tried to wash my hands more. But she was a newborn and I was breastfeeding and I figured it was just going to be what it was.

Sorry :(

Do you do anything to make sure LO doesn't get sick if you don't have anyone around to share parenting duties? I mean, forget feeling icky (cause you're not human anymore!), there's no way we're risking any more health stuff with this guy. I would have laughed at this kind of question before I became a parent!
