I have this weird thing where I don't mind if someone is late meeting me because trust me, I get it, life happens and gets in the way but I personally hate if I am the one who is late meeting someone. Because of this I'm hardly ever late. If I am it's usually because I'm waiting for DH because he's not prepared so I get a little snippy with him. Oops!

Well it is a VERY rare occasion if we are running late, we are both 10 minutes early kind of people. So if something happens that we are running late, I would be stressing liek a MAD woman, and probably forget 1/2 of the necessary stuff (i.e. bottle but no formula/diapers but no wipes.)

@runsyellowlites: If that happens, I try to give calm, clear directions about what DH can do to help get us out the door more quickly . . . it can be frustrating though . . . is it too much to ask that my hair be dry and that my eyelashes aren't sticking together?! :P

I continue to do what I need to do but in a rushed/crazed fashion. He's always on time. So he'll sit there while I run around like a maniac...he will help if I yell out instructions for him (can you grab my coat, shoes, purse, whatever). I'm late a lot.

Honestly, even with a child I don't think we've yet been late to something. Our "late" is being right on time. I usually pack diaper bag the night before. DH hates being late so we always plan to leave the house way early.

@boots: Oh my favorite is that DH will get ready & then just sit on the couch watching me drop things I need to get ready to grab P's stuff, nurse her, or get other things WE need.

Seriously drives me mad! lol

I'm like you! I cut unnecessary tasks from least important to most important, and sacrifice things like eating/wearing matching clothes ;)

My husband also goes about his usual routine. It drives me bonkers, especially when we have to be somewhere together...I'm standing anxiously by the door or waiting in the car, and the man is leisurely putting on his socks. Smh.

I am like you and my SO is like your DH. I hate being late, I think its very rude. My SO does not mind being late at all. It drives me crazy!

If we are going to an event that is for DH we will NOT be late. For my events he takes his sweet time. I just try to stay out of hus way to not further slow him down. I am also not above leaving without him.

It gets pretty tense! DH is always running late. I try and give him exact times on when we need to be in the car but it doesnt always work!

It depends what it's for. If it's for work I'll just be a little late and make up the time that evening.

If it's for an event with a start time (church, meeting someone for lunch, a birthday party, etc) I will cut out my routine to make it on time. I do not accept being late for those events. DH is really good at making sure we're not late too. Usually we're yelling instructions at each other as we're running all over the house (HATE having stairs!) to put DD in the car seat, grab the diapers out of the dryer, grab some bottles, don't forget the lovey... We've gotten pretty good at it... haha

It depends what caused it...if we are late because we overslept, we look at our calendars and see if we had early meetings and try to reschedule. If it is because I can't find something to wear, then I pick stuff out the Sunday before.

eta: If I have the early committment, I wake up earlier to accomodate.

How do you & your SO handle it?

Me: I will skip parts of my routine, pack P's bag by just throwing things in it (ie. cover & insert not stuffed), and just try to get to our destination on time or as close to it's start time as possible.

DH: Gets ready like he always does & will be as late as he turns out to be while not inconveniencing/changing his routine.

I grew up with a mom that was always late & MIL is always late too..... needless to say DH's way really irks me. lol

How do you/your SO handle the getting ready process when you're running late?
