To US when we finally go on a trip childless it will be our delayed honeymoon, but we wouldn't dream of asking for a discount. I will however TELL people when we check in, etc that we're FINALLY having it years later without ANY expectation of discounts. We delayed our honeymoon (married in March, traveled in Dec/Jan) because off peak work times between my husband and I only aligned during the Christmas holidays. However, even if you have a policy about how long something can be considered a honeymoon for the discount, there's no reason they couldn't lie about their wedding date (unless you verify this in some way).</p> <p>I'd say skip the discount and just do some nice little extra for honeymooners. Honestly, buy a few cases of champagne (if you buy in bulk I bet you could get a decent one around $10 per bottle) and maybe scatter around some rose petals and people will be thrilled! IMHO, I think if it's something the hotel can do cheaply, it should just do it and come out of your marketing budget.</p> <p>We once checked in super late at a Radisson Blu on my husbands birthday and a slice of chocolate cake had been delivered with Happy Birthday on the plate in jelly drizzle (we didn't mention it at front desk, it was in his loyalty profile). It was such a thoughtful gesture I remember it years later and I'm sure I've told many people about how thoughtful that was. While in school her mom was diagnosed with cancer and ultimately passed away. Then we had a baby, and all hopes for a honeymoon disappeared. Two years after our wedding, I was pregnant with LO2 and my sister was able to watch LO1 for a week. We took advantage of the opportunity and called our trip a delayed honeymoon/babymoon. </p> <p>Every couple deserves a honeymoon. The discount part is a little ridiculous though. I think the trend of expecting special treatment has been abused and it wouldn't be the worst thing in the world if it died--it's like, your wedding is over, you're married, the jig is up. I also have a couple of friends who have lied about being on their honeymoon well after they were married to get discounts, fruit baskets, champagne, etc, and that kind of behavior is about on par with shoplifting and cheating on your taxes--it tears at the fabric. hate petty dishonesty and I'm sorry if you encounter it.
