I told two other good friends the following weekend when they were in town, and the rest of my friends at a Xmas party when I was 11 weeks and we had heard the heartbeat. I guess I didn't specify how far along I'll be at different points-- found out a little shy of 4 weeks, told my sister at just shy of 5 (but would have told her right away if I wasn't going to see her for Thanksgiving). We'll be telling DH's mom and brothers at Christmas at just past 8 weeks (after 1st Dr appt) and I'll probably be almost 12 weeks the next time we see my parents. I want to tell them sooner, but it seems worth it to tell in person. Any siblings who aren't there when I tell my parents, I'll tell after. I don't want it on facebook for a while after that though. I wish we would have waited and enjoyed the news privately for a little whole longer, but I was too excited. I had to wait until DH got off work at 12:30 am to tell him the news! We told close family and friends right away because we moved our wedding up so it was hard to not spill the beans. DH was there when I peed on a stick for my second pregnancy...around 5 weeks. We told family and some friends a few weeks later. I couldn't hold it in and had to tell her. Then I told mother good friend a few days later when we went to visit her and her 4 day old son. I had taken the test but couldn't tell if there was a second line because I was so early, so I asked her if she'd look at the pic and give me her opinion! We both agreed that it was a positive, so I went off to get a digital and told Hubs a few hours later when he got home. After that we waited a few days and then told pretty much everybody. DH wanted to tell everyone that day! the day after we found out i was pregnant, we were having a BBQ at our house, so it was definitely hard to keep it a secret. Then we waited to tell parents until about 7 weeks, because his were in town and it was the first grandchild. We told siblings after first doc appt at 9 weeks and went public at 13 weeks. 2nd: I had bleeding early on and I was convinced it was a miscarriage. I knew I couldn't do that by myself, so I called my Mom almost immediately, and then told my SIL. I think DH told his Mom sometime in there. The whole family knew about it much earlier, but that is because we thought we were going to lose the baby (we didn't! he's a happy little 9 month old). But we would have waited until 13 weeks again..... We told my dad either that night too or the next day, I can't remember. Then my brother and his brother and his wife a couple of days later. They were the two we told with our first pregnancy, and were a great well of support when we lost it. I actually spent that day with my MIL, but we had something planned for Christmas so I didn't spill. We were mostly equally cautious about telling people, but DH wanted to spill more than I did (he announced it at his job when I was like 9 weeks). We told his family at 7 weeks (at Christmas) and my parents at 8 weeks (after our first ultrasound). Who wanted to wait more, you or SO? We just found out last weekend that I'm pregnant, and saw DH's grandmother, dad, and brother the next day-- that was way too soon for us to say anything. Then we saw my family for Thanksgiving, and I told my one sister, but that was it. I wouldn't have minded telling my parents too, but DH really doesn't want to tell anyone else until my first Dr. appointment on Dec. 17, which means we will tell his family at Christmas, but we won't see my family again until January. I'm fine with it-- this week seemed too early to tell anyone, but January seems SO far away now! (we live kind of far and don't see either side often, hiding it will not be an issue). I'm curious when other people told and if other SOs were more cautious than the actual pregnant person?
