No need to get an expensive bike since they will outgrow them and kids at the 2-6 year range can't tell a cheap bike from an expensive bike. They'll be happy that they got a bike. He is outgrowing it now so we might go to a local store that has a trade in program. If you trade in a kids bike that was purchased through them during the first year, you will get 40% of the price back. If you trade it in within 2 years you get 30%. I also want to go somewhere that will assemble the bike for me! So dh took her to bike stores for her bday. It was a bit more than big box stores but the components are more durable and should last through several kids.
