Snow boots? Wagon Jr. is still going strong in all of his hand-me-downs... right now he's in Kamiks. I agree with others-- always buy used or from ebay. They never get worn out! Along with rain boots!

Waterproof gloves? Right now he's wearing a pair from Children's Place that I bought last year in a rush. They're so worn out that they're probably not waterproof at all anymore. Gloves and mittens are definitely something that get worn out after just a season so now that he's older, I think I will invest in a pair from LL Bean or something similar that has a lifetime guarantee.

Mittens? We just buy Carter's knit mittens for LMW.

Thermal underwear? We don't bother! They get so hot and sweaty in their snow pants and puffy jackets.

I am stocking up while abroad. I will get thermals bad waterproof mittens, plus a waterproof bib. I will also look for some hats.

I got M Sorels from 6pm.com for $18!!! She wore them for the first time yesterday and had no issues walking in them.

I still need to find waterproof mittens.

@BoogieBea: thanks! I really want to get M their down sweater for next year. But no way I can afford them at full price.

@SugarplumsMom: are the magic mittens waterproof?

Snowboots
Kamik Icepop from Amazon. It's a pita to put on. Next year, I'm opting for something with a Velcro easy opening (not a slip on).

Waterproof gloves
Reima from Zulily. I've yet to receive them, but they zip all the way.
Fix gloves from Lindex. They zip halfway up. Bought them after a snowstorm since the other ones aren't here yet. It's gotten really warm and all the snow has melted. Go figure.
Slip on glove, lightly padded from a local sports store. I can NOT get them on :(
Thinner slip on from a sale rack, as back up. I doubt I'll ever get those on.
** I would have saved time and hassle if I bought zip-ups gloves to begin with!

Mittens
Magic Mittens from Polarn o. Pyret. Got them on sale 2-pack for less than $5. They fit so well - wrist elastic is extra wide so they stay in place. She uses these the most.

Thermal underwear
I haven't bought any yet, but I'll need to buy a wool set. But she has a Reima fleece suit that goes under her snow suit. Kind of looks like a Merlin's Magic Sleepsuit.

REI has great online sales and their reviews are written by people who know outdoor weather. I don't know if they are that big on LOs though.

@Silva: Usually during the summer. If you sign up for their emails or add your contact to their mailing list, they'll send you alerts on when they're having their sales. They have their 30% off sale twice or more times each year.

Patagonia has a 50% off sale each year and I get a bunch of stuff then. Usually big ticket items like their winter jacket. Sierratradingpost.com is a site I like browsing from time to time. Everytjing on their site is already discounted but they often have addditonal coupon codes that includes free shipping. I've gotten snowboots from consignment as well.

I actually have an extra pair of snowboots for my daughter. I think olive and my daughter is around the same age. If you're interested, let me know. They may be boys color though as they are hand me downs.

I have the size small snow stoppers and they fit my smallish toddlers hands. I never tried the extra small. They are a little hard to get on, but they stay on which is more important to me!

I think Ll bean has the long underwear in infant sizes too (or they did). In general I find my kids are about 3-6 months behind on llbean sizing. Since it's an under layer too, I don't mind it as much being big:)

@Sparkler: how do you like the snow stoppers? there were some mixed reviews esp for the smallest size having no thumb.

i also bought some sorels off ebay for charlie, but i still need to buy olive snow boots.

and i was looking at the llbean underwear too! i think i might get some for charlie but the reviews say they run large, so i'm reluctant to get them for olive because she is small and the smallest size they have is a 2t. how do they fit?

I have heard good things about bog boots for snow boots, although they're not tight to the calf at the top.

For thermal underwear, nova naturals, rei, and polarn o pyret sell nice stuff (friends of mine have bought from all of those places for their toddlers).

I still have a baby, so we don't need boots or waterproof gloves, but I really like polarn o pyret for merino wool (or nui organics, when they are on zulilly) because I can get a reasonable price. They keep my daughter cozy!

Smart wool makes good hat and mitten sets. I keep an eye on sierra trading post for deals!

Don't feel like researching! And I think we really need these things to get through winter since it isn't even technically winter yet and we've already had a lot of snow (and cold!).
