Once we found out we were having a boy, I immediately knew I wanted to incorporate a wood accent wall in his nursery. Our home is kind of urban farmhouse/lodgey, so I definitely wanted it to flow with the rest of the house. From there I went back and forth on what direction I would take, but I think I am going to go with a vintage summer camp feel.

From the sea! I have a love for the ocean, so the nursery will be inspired by the sea and the creatures that live in it. We plan to decorate minimally and use toys/books as decorations. I want one wall with a long shelf or two that displays books about sea creatures, the ocean, etc. I'm also planning on cutting out some wall decor in the shape of fish and putting those above the crib in a school. Hopefully it turns out well and the inspiration comes across well with minimum funds used! :)

@lovelife: So true! I'm constantly amazed by how much I feel like baby items are taking over my house! I've tried to stick to buying just the necessities, but it's still a lot for such a small person.

DH and I love to camp, so we went with a loose woodland animal theme in our accessories. All the bedding, furniture, drapes, etc are green, brown, white and tan so that we can reuse them for the next little one - we'll just change up the accessories for a different theme.

@Mrsbells: I think it's smart to not go with pink (even though I love it...) because then you can use it again with the next kid. If we have a boy, we're going to have to buy so much stuff!

@Lovelife: We have all that other stuff (bumbo, swing, bouncer, etc) scattered all over our house, not just in her room.

I should put all that stuff away too!, her room is tiny ..its jam packed with big items. Its hard to find places for her bumbo, playmat, swing, bouncy with out it looking cluttered .. so much stuff for such a little person.

For the 1st year our baby's "nursery" will b in the corner of our room, most of my inspiration has come from baby nursery pictures i have seen online. The furniture is dark walnut and I plan to avoid using pink even though we are having a girl. I'll be putting up some wall decals neutral colors too

@lovelife: I try to keep her room clean... it's just when my mom comes over she breaks out every toy and doesn't put it away. Pay back for when I was a kid I think. It also took me a while to figure some things out. I used to have all those lotions and butt paste out and handy if I needed them, but then I realized I never use them so that was pointless and they're put away now.

Well I moved her crib to the wall where I can see it at an angle from my room.. (makes me feel better about her being in there so long at night with out me :) )I also added a book shelf for her cloth diapers/covers. The basket on top is not longer neatly organized with lotions wipes and bath stuff, its a mess. The nursery was so clean and crisp... now its definitely lived in!

we did a birdhouse/ nature theme with light pinks, greens, browns tans and blues. I wanted the house to all flow well together (since we are trying to sell) so I didn't go with very bold colors, but I love her room! Its funny how important I thought the nursery was before baby, it was set up so cute! Now its set up for convenience.

I've loved and collected pigs my whole life, so it was a pretty easy decision to go with pigs for the nursery. First of all because I thought it would be fun and adorable, and second of all because I already had a lot of stuff so it was cheap. Once we picked her name (Rose), we decided it would be flowers too.

We're not close to having baby #2 yet, but I'm still always thinking about what I'd want to do for a nursery. My hubby said no pigs again. We're going team green next time around so I want to be excited about the nursery, even though I can't fill it with pink like I did for my baby girl.

How did you decide on your nursery decor, and what did you pick?
