This is kinda a PIA but it is safest. </p> <p>In our Mazda 5 (microvan) we have him behind the drivers seat. It is way more convienent to just put him in and get in. Plus DH is really tall and needs whatever seat he's sitting in to be all the way back. The convertible fits better than the infant seat, but it still doesn't give DH enough room. DS's seat goes behind whatever seat I'm in.<br /> I read that the differences in safety from middle to side are miniscule. I could hop in the car to buckle when it was raining or really cold outside. Did you install it in the middle, behind the driver or behind the passenger side? I heard the middle was the safest in case of side impacts. I also heard behind the driver's side was safe because in case of a head on collision, the driver is instinctively likely to swerve out of their own harm's way in self preservation. We installed ours behind the passenger seat so that I could reach over to baby if I needed to during a stop. When we had it checked, the lady said middle was best, but she liked behind the passenger because then you wouldn't be in the way of traffic when you get the car seat in and out. I would also like to know where you installed your car seat if you have a minivan. And also, those parents with multiple carseats, where they have them installed. </p>
