@Crystal: Did CVS fill the prescription quickly? It was almost 3 years ago now, so it's hard to remember... There was a delay, but only because of getting the actual order in. I thought my doc sent it in, but it turns out I had to call CVS Specialty myself and have them request the prescription (or the other way around?). Because of the mix-up, I waited longer than I needed to. But once the order was in, I got my meds within 3 days, I think.

@Crystal: There's a thread where I posted a breakdown of all the pharmacies I called and the quotes they gave me.

Here is the thread. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/ivf-meds-money-saving-tips-or-discount-programs

Here is the post where I break down the prices that were given. http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/ivf-meds-money-saving-tips-or-discount-programs#post-1890098

@bluestriped bee: Your post inspired me to ask where everyone is buying their items from. Thank you for sharing!

@TheSwissWifeStyle: Wow! that is lucky!

@ineebee: Did CVS have a long processing time? or did they fill it quickly?

@PurplePumps: Wow, that is quite a difference in cost. I'm going to have to shop around.

@spaniellove: We don't have any local fertility pharmacies, just "regular" pharmacies.

@FliegepilzHut: I'll have to look into them, thanks!

@Shutterbug: Wow! You have great coverage!

@LindsayInNY: Were they able to fill the orders quickly?

@GreenThumb: Thank you, i will have to look into them!

@sarahnicole218: This seems to be a popular option, I'll have to look into them!

My Clomid and Femara/Letrozole were bought at the local drugstore (CVS or Walgreens). Same with progesterone capsules as well as the Crinone ones. My Ovidrel was ordered through Freedom Fertility.

We had to use Freedom Fertility for our insurance to cover their part. Our 20% of the IVF meds still came out to $1,300. The experience with the pharmacy was great though. They shipped quickly and it was all packages great!

I used Mandell's Clinical Pharmacy and they are absolutely wonderful! They were recommended by my RE's office. My insurance covered a good part of most medications, especially for FETs.

I used Village Fertility Pharmacy. They were recommended by my RE and are also local, but they ship overnight as well. Customer service was awesome and I never had any problems. My insurance covered everything, minus co-pays of about $50 per IUI and $100 per IVF cycle.

@PurplePumps: CVS quoted me $98 for a bottle of progesterone in oil! I wound up getting it for $35.

I have prescription coverage for most fertility meds except progesterone in oil. I use Walgreens Specialty pharmacy. I like them because they have a quick turnaround time and will overnight my meds.

No insurance coverage for stims, progesterone, etc (my insurance did pick up some antibiotics and steroids).

I used Avella pharmacy (in AZ?). They were very friendly and I received everything shipped.

Mine were covered by insurance, but at the specialty pharmacy co-pay for injectibles, for my cycle two years ago I was able to use a local DC specialty Pharmacy called Grubbs. They delivered to my home in Virginia. This time I had to use PrimeTherapeutics the Pharmacy tied to my insurance. They are out of Texas, but they over-nighted stuff on ice packs.

I got my meds from CVS Specialty since that is our prescription med provider and they only cover it from them. They are WAY more expensive than other places that have been recommended here. Their cash price for a 900 Gonal pen was lke $1700 vs $900 on Freedom I think.

In the beginning I bought everything from Village Fertility. My insurance didn't cover injectibles but oral meds and things like Estrace were and progesterone required a high copay.

Eventually I just started using a local fertility pharmacy because it was 5 minutes from my house and it was easy to just pick up my PIO on the way home or just ask my husband to get it on his way home.

@Crystal: my insurance covered nothing so all meds were OOP.

My clomid was filled at my local pharmacy. I think I paid $18 for my supply.

I got my ovidrel and progesterone from Freedom.

I've had three different insurances in the past 3 years in 3 different states, and the first and third one covered IF meds (which is why we took a break in that second year). The first year, I ordered through the CVS specialty pharmacy, and the third year I ordered through Freedom Fertility. Freedom was awesome - I really loved them.

ETA: At the beginning when I was just doing Clomid + progesterone, these were covered under my regular insurance and I got them at my regular pharmacy. But once we added Ovidrel to the mix with IUIs, then later Lupron and Gonal-F for IVF, I had to use the specialty pharmacies.

Do you have insurance that covers IF meds? Unless it was medication like metformin and dexamethasone that has other uses other than fertility, my fertility med was not covered.

I highly suggest if you have to pay out of pocket for your meds, then I would suggest WinFertility.

I wrote all about it here. Best prices I could find.

I would read my post because there are some things you need to know about WinFertility. Like you have to be ready to buy more than one medication.

http://boards.hellobee.com/topic/if-you-need-fertility-medication-call-winfertility#post-2063237

I found them during my Ivf cycle but I think I could have used them for my IUI cycles when I had to buy femera and Ovridrel.
