Our middle seat also doesn't have latch but the side seats do. There better be a latch in the middle! @Sweet T: Does your Jeep Pat have a middle latch? I think I need to run out and grab my manual from the glove compartment and figure mine out. Thanks ladies....I think i'll try it in the middle and end up moving it to behind the passenger seat if it gets super annoying. Check with your carseat manual and your auto manual to see what they recommend. Also, remember that you need enough space between the driver and passenger front seats and the carseat in the back. Neither my husband or I could drive comfortably with the carseat behind the driver (or the middle as that would affect how far back the driver seat could be positioned) so it went on the passenger side in both cars. We do have smaller sedans though, so if you have a roomier SUV or you and your husband aren't too tall you have more options. The middle seat usually doesn't have latch; and although the seat belt is just as safe I'd rather use the latch. I have an SUV so getting to the middle seat can be a pain. Both sides have the sliding doors. Getting into the car with a car seat is a pain, I much prefer just to be able to stand and lean into the car.
