@Radish: i actually already bought it, oh well! I ended up spending more than i wanted but i was so annoyed with the whole process it was sort of worth it just to get it over with.

bonus... she looks extra cute :)

Okay lots of good suggestions! I sucked it up and took LO out this afternoon and we went to Once Upon a Child and Target (where I had to run errands anyways so I just walked through the baby section). Found two cute pink dresses and bought both to bring home and try on her and I'll return the other! I was going to put them on her when we got home but she fell asleep in the car on the way here so it will have to wait until after her nap :) I'll come back and post pics!

I rarely buy anything not on sale... right now gap is having 40% off, with an additional 20% off on top of that - including sale items (ends today - probably bc the gapcash use is starting tomorrow).

I usually have a limit of what I'm willing to spend on a particular item. For dresses, I refuse to pay more than $20 max... a $24 dress from Carter's sounds really high to me. Carter's is always running sales too.

Old Navy, BabyGap, and Target are my favorite places to shop.

I shop almost exclusively at childrens consignment stores like once upon a child. A dress there would run about $5 and they only take stuff that is still in great condition!

And SEPT15 is the code for 15% off at Carters. It would be cheaper than Kohl's. I don't see a free shipping code currently for Carters (they are harder to come by).

Carter's dress is currently 26.40 at Kohls. They have a 30% w/ Kohls card coupon code starting tomorrow. There is probably a free shipping code too. That would be about $18.50.

I agree with Consignment stores as well, I have one in town that is on the "richer" side of town and I frequently find brand new or almost new items there for cheap! All her winter coats and holiday outfits come from there!

@Mae: check macys for the Carter's outfit. They run 30-50% off all the time. They also have a coupon for $10 off a $25 purchase usually once a month on a random day. Kohls and JC Penney also sell Carter's so you can check there too.

I buy my LO her clothes from Gap, Gymboree or Carter's on sale. We recently bought her special occasion dress from Nordstrom on sale but my LO is a bit older than yours so I know she can wear the same dress a few times.

My FAVORITE places to go are Consignment shops & sales or places like Marshalls. At consignment sales I will pay literally $3 for 5 tops or 2 bottoms, so prices like that for like-new clothes makes it really really hard to spend more at other places lol. I hate buying brand new clothes for babies since it only gets worn maybe a month or two! The only way I am buying new clothes is if they are clearance like 1.99 for shirts at Crazy 8 or Carters.Target recently had jeans on sale for $3 so I stocked up :P Now that she is 15 months she has been getting more wear out of her clothes at least!

@Mae: i usually get my carters stuff from tj maxx, marshalls they sell it for 1/2 the price.if you have one near you, see if they have the outfit there

I usually only shop the clearance rack and get great deals from old navy and carters. I pay full price for H&M.

I buy lots of clothes for my LO on ebay. I don't mind pre-owned for daily wear.

For your photoshoot though, if you really love that dress, I would definitely just wait for a sale. Carters runs 40% sales all the time. Macys also carries Carters and it is really common for them to run sales with extra coupons in addition. If your shoot is in October, you have some time to wait!

@lawbee11: I don't know about Carters. There is a gap but I don't know if we have a kids gap. I don't really go to the mall.... ever.... lol. And the idea of shopping with LO stresses me out anyways. Although I did just look online and Old Navy has a cute peach romper that is not available online and is available in the store near me so I may run in to see about getting that because it's only $11 which is much more my speed :)

I buy a lot of things second hand but about 90% of the things that I buy for her new come from Old Navy. If we had and H&M nearby I would shop there much more often because their clothes are well made and affordable. The things we were gifted when she was tiny, I loved.
