I have a little boy and for Fall/Winter this is what where we shopped. When I buy his clothes it’s Target and GAP because they are close to our house. This winter Old Navy had a 3 pack bundle of thermal long sleeve shirts. I bought two of those as a layering piece. When DH buys he usually shops at TJ Maxx or the sales rack at Macy’s and he buys Polo, Tommy Hilfiger, and Lucky brand. The clothes for the most part aren’t in your face promoting the brand thankfully.

@jhd: You have to check out the old navy jersey pants for T! They’re especially good for spring and summer when it’s not quite warm enough for shorts but maybe too warm for jeans or true sweatpants . Z calls them t-shirt pants and would wear them year round if I let him (in my opinion they’re not warm enough for winter but we walk almost a mile to and from school. If he was being driven door to door I’d be ok).

For my 3yo - 90% is from Kohl's (Jumping Beans brand). They are the softest, stretchiest shorts/pants. He is another that will only wear soft/stretchy pants. I find the elastic waistbands on the Target Cat&Jack shorts to be kind of tight/restricting. The Jumping Beans stuff is not fancy, but holds up fairly well and it's so cheap. Usually at change of season, I can stock up on shirts/pants/shirts for under $4-5 each. Often less ($2-3). Usually "regular" sale price is like $7.

The remaining 10% is C&J shirts and a few other random things. He wrecks his clothes so I don't buy anything nice. And he's super picky and refuses to wear most things, so...

Gymboree stores in part as a way to save the Janie and Jack brand. So for now at least it sounded like JJ are ok. Not sure about Crazy 8.

Mostly Target and TJMaxx. At TJMaxx I buy a lot of Polo, Vineyard Vines, and Nike/Adidas athletic shorts and pants. I sometimes order from Gap/OldNavy. I wonder if Crazy 8 is also going out of business? I’ve ordered a few things from there and been happy with them, although the sizing was a little inconsistent.

I’m not a brand loyalist, so I’ll buy from wherever fits my need at the time and where I feel like I’m getting a deal.

So I buy everything from Walmart for cheap school clothes (they have one line that is surprisingly cute), to Target, to H&M, Crazy 8 and Old Navy on the cheap side; to Gap and Gymbo in the mid range; to Janie and Jack, Crew Cuts, Jacadi, Hannah Anderson, Tea Collection on the higher end (on sale).

In all of those cases, I’m a sales shopper, so while I won’t spend $38 on full price Gap dress, I would jump on a sale Jacadi dress for $38, haha.

I can’t say I’ll really miss Gymboree (although their sales have been killer lately), but I would miss Janie and Jack’s Black Friday and Memorial weekend sales l, since I tend to stock up on those days, if JJ goes down with them. JJ filled a niche need for me for cute/classic special occasion and classic swim that could also be gotten for a really reasonable sale price eventually. I’ve found other lines with similar classic quality but are way more expensive and sales are less frequent or worse. So I’m more bummed about that.

Target lover. H&M Kids also opened up near me and I've liked their stuff before. GAP and ZARA are also another favorites that I order.

We used to wear a lot of Old Navy stuff but I cannot go into a store (any! I've been to several different stores in my area) where the clothes are like all over the place, the size on the hanger is different, there's never any sizes available, and I get hives with all the disorganization of the clothes

90% Gap, Old Navy, and Zara (their jeans fit my skinny boy so well, but they are NOT durable - more of his jeans have holes in the knees than don’t). The rest is from some Canadian companies that I love - Surfing Ninjas, Locomotive, and Peace Collective all have excellent tees and sweatshirts.

I love target leggings (cat and jack) but that probably doesn’t help with boys. We have lots from target, Carter’s/ Osh Kosh, old navy and Gap. Carters is cute and inexpensive but the quality is hit or miss. Target is pretty consistent. Gap holds up well but you really have to wait for good sales. We also have a fair amount from H&M and I’ve been happy with it but the sizing can be all over the place and it costs money to return by mail and the nearest store is kind of far from me. And children’s place for some basics but I find the quality to be a little lower than others.
