We usually do play dates at homes... But I will say I am pretty okay with the fact that my house is messy and has toys everywhere. :silly: Most of the people we have play dates with are close friends and we are all pretty comfortable with having our home a little messy with each other.

At home. We all switch off. I probably would suck it up and just continually offer, because I love seeing our friends at playdates.

@travellingbee: The cleanliness of their own homes. The other moms will say something like, "I would host this week, but my house is a mess. So lets just meet at the coffee shop." I don't mind hosting, but I don't want to be the only one offering every week.

We mostly meet at each other's home. I think everyone picks up a little before hosting but we've been friends since the toddlers were tiny babies, so we feel a little more comfortable just saying 'sorry for the mess'. This is especially true since we all started having second babies.

Our problem now is with multiple toddler PLUS new babies regular size houses get crowded pretty quickly.

We have also met at places like the children's museum, which is also fun, but the moms don't get to chat as much since we have to chase our kids. Same goes for playgrounds when it's warm.

We do mostly meet in homes-- there aren't really any good alternatives until it warms up and we can get outside again. At this point we've been getting together for close to 2 years, so while we all try to have a neat space we don't stress too much about it.

The cleanliness of their own home or the homes they are visiting? We have met at home or the park. But it's already warm here.

My son is 2 and a half, and we are part of a playgroup with kids who are between 2 and 3 years old. We typically meet once a week. There was a time when we each took turns hosting playdates in our homes, but that hasn't happened for a while, since some of the moms complained about not having a clean enough house and then people stopped offering to host. It's still too chilly to meet at the playground, so we have been meeting at a local coffee shop. The coffee shop has a small corner with a few toys for kids, but it's really not enough space for a bunch of active toddlers to run around. I don't like going to the coffee shop playdates because if this. So I'm wondering, if you have toddlers and do playdates, where do you meet? If you meet in your homes, do the group members worry about cleanliness?
