@Ms. RV: Same. I use the steam function rather than ironing almost always.

I do iron when I’m sewing, so the ironing board is kept in our office/sewing room.

I have one of those dryers that steams clothes so I usually use that to iron. If there isn't time for that, I use a carpeted floor as an ironing board.

I don't iron.... sometimes I will use my hair straightener on my clothes though, hahahaha.

If I have to, which is rare, I use a travel steamer.

@HappyBaker: I actually really like to iron - I think it's relaxing. I have a full sized ironing board folded up in the laundry room in our basement, so I just take it out and iron in the basement. Now that we have kids, however, I definitely lean towards wearing clothes that don't need to be ironed or just hanging them up near the shower in the mornings, hoping that the steam will take out most of the wrinkles.

the only time I can remember ironing in the last few years is for my daughter's pearler bead creations, ha! I do have a little handheld steamer that I use if something is really wrinkly - maybe a few times a month. I find it much quicker and easier then ironing.

I keep my full size ironing board and iron on a wall thing in my closet. I have to take it out to the bedroom to iron though which is a little bit annoying. I only really iron if what I want to wear to work is wrinkly or for events like holidays or pictures. But being near my clothes where I get dressed is useful.

I refuse to buy every day clothes that need to be ironed or dry cleaned. Therefore, I rarely iron. I would prefer to iron in the laundry room but it's in the basement and I'm lazy. Our hall closet has a thing on the wall where you can hook on your ironing board and it holds your iron so it stays in there. We will then iron in our room. And then the iron and board will stay in our room for a few days before we put it away. :)

@HappyBaker: You iron your jeans?!?! Wow.

I hardly ever iron - basically only when my work clothes are, let's say, pretty badly wrinkled. Otherwise I just assume the wrinkles will shake out as I wear the clothes. But when we iron we do it in the laundry room - it's pretty close quarters, but easier than dragging the ironing board out. Especially since my husband doesn't think it's a problem to leave it set up for 3-100 days after he finishes ironing.

I don’t even have a real ironing board...I just throw a towel on the guest bed and iron there. It doesn’t give the best results, but for the amount I used to iron, it beat having to find a spot to store a board. Now that I’m sewing more, though, it would make it a lot easier to have one.

@josina: I iron on a small board on the washer also! I mostly iron dressy kid stuff so it works fine. I hang it on a hook on the wall. Day to day I also try to make sure stuff comes out of dryer nicely and I sometimes “iron” by spraying clothes with water and using my hands to work out wrinkles, if they are just in one place like a hem or sleeve.

I have a big board that I use mostly for sewing projects or the occasional big need. It’s in the coat closet and I hate getting it out so that really makes me never want to use it.

I would love to have a built in that folds up on the wall! No space right now though.

I rarely iron- I guess my OCD is that clothes have to come out of the dryer right away and either laid flat or hung up so they don't get wrinkly. I just have a small folding one that sits on the side of the washer, and I iron on top of the washer when I do.

I rarely iron but when I do it's on the mini ironing board my mom sent with me to college.

My coworker sent out a suggestion that we use ironing boards for adjustable standing desks for work from home. My boss was shocked none of us owned full size ironing boards. He offered to let us expense them which is huge because my group is cheap but I don't have a place to store one and I wouldn't use it.

I only iron for special occasions lol which is good because I set up the ironing board in the dining room/kind of in the hallway. It's in the way completely. I don't have any good place to do it. 🤷‍♀️

@bakingdoodle: yea ironically my husband doesn’t iron at all because it’s not something I ever wanted to do for him haha. I guess maybe the answer is quit cold turkey and over the door might be good for once in a while!

@JJ2626: ha I know I can’t understand this! I iron every shirt and bottoms I’m wearing every day. I think I’m just super OCD about wrinkles? I guess pandemic life might be a good time to try just stopping ha. Like if you wear jeans twice in a row and there’s wrinkles where your knees were? I can’t handle that!

I used to iron quite often when we first got married but noticed that my husband just pushed his freshly iron shirts (that he doesn't wear that often because he is a software engineer) in the cramped closet. I bought him a lot of wrinkled free shirts. For me, I ironed my items about once a month now. I used to iron more often when we had a guest bedroom. (no more, because of the kids). So do you think you could put an ironing board over the door or an iron wall built in? that would be the best solution. I don't iron often because it's an eye sore to have the ironing board out and my room is already so messy....

I iron everyday, which I know is probably not super common ha but it’s a habit / way of life I’ve been unable to break haha. Growing up I wore a uniform in school and had to iron my skirt pleats every morning so it just became ingrained in me!

In our bedroom we used to just keep the full ironing board up, but a few years ago we switched to a smaller laundry sorter with ironing board top. I love it but we’re redoing our room / layout in order to switch from a queen to king size bed, and there won’t really be space for it anymore (we have a very tiny bedroom).

Wondering where other people iron / what you iron on top of if you do it frequently.
