all of the above? I've sat on the toilet holding the baby while the toddler tries to push me off, crying, because it offends her for some reason. Good times.

When DS was younger, I would put him in the bouncer. Sometimes I would just leave it in the living room and sometimes I would take it with me, it just depended. Now, if I know I'll be quick, I just leave him playing on the floor. If not, I put him in the jumperoo. He's a rolling machine and a super army crawler. It won't be long until he's crawling for real! Can't leave him playing alone much longer!

@brownie: haha the seefood diet--that made me laugh. Also, that's so cute that your dogs will "hunt" for him!

I set him right outside the bathroom door with a few toys and keep the door open (he can't crawl yet so it works). He doesn't like to be left alone and I don't usually like him to be that close to me during those moments.

I bring him in and he opens and closes all of the cupboards and drawers. Now he likes to crawl away but I just call out to him and he comes back or the dogs go hunt for him. For showers he also showers with me. The only disadvantage to that is he thinks it's time to nurse since he can see them (he is on a seefood diet. If he sees food, he wants it). He is just a little over a year now.

I will have to start trying the sitting him on the potty thing.

Exersaucer, bouncer, pack-n-play, leave on living room floor with door open, crib. I think I've done them all (when she was little). Now I just leave her playing and make sure to lock the door and talk to her if she knocks (ahem bangs) if I forget to lock the door, I end up with company who wants to "me potty".

@MrsBee and MrsWagon: I used to take the baby monitor into the bathroom with me so that if LO woke up while I was showering I could finish really quick and go to her.

When DS was younger I'd put him in the exersaucer--he would even stay in there when I'd take a quick shower (if I wanted to shave my legs, then I had to entertain him by playing peek-a-boo with the sliding glass door)
Now that he's 3 he can play in his room or the living room but I still leave the door open so I can hear him. Except showers, I have to take them when he naps.

@Honeybee: ditto. LO always comes with me. When they can walk? Forget about it. I would rather her be in there with me and happy versus crying and banging on the door and trying to open it.

@Mrs. Bee: Oh my...that's not healthy, haha!

With my nephew I just put him down and go to the bathroom without him. No matter how long of a trip it will be. He'll knock on the door and yell at me, but the kid can deal! I just talk to him through the door and explain I'm not leaving, just using the potty.

I doubt I'll bring my own kids in with me, unless I'm potty training a little girl.

@Mrs. Bee: I have the opposite problem!! ;)

Seriously... I think the funniest thing is trying to shower. I rarely did it, but I'd be SO stressed out about it as I was doing the super quick shower and leaving all kinds of suds everywhere before I was done. I remember some showers during his naps when he'd wake up before I was done and I'd just panic and rush through the rest... oh man, am I ready to do this all over again?? ;)

@mrs. wagon: nah i've just always been constipated.

if i have to pee, i just stick olive in the crib or leave her in the exersaucer/jumperoo. poop and i bring her in with me. these are the kinds of things you never think about before having kids.

@Mrs. Bee: lol. So hardcore. You definitely deserve a mommy award for giving up pooping. I would hold it all day too! But when I gotta go, I gotta go...

I would put Wagon Jr. in the pack n play, exersaucer, or jumperoo. Then I'd SPEED pee and/or poo! When he was really young I'd put him in the bouncy chair and bring him in with me.

i take the bouncer in the bathroom with olive. i used to stick charlie in the bathtub when he was younger, but now he can climb out.

my solution is that i just never poop. seriously. so it is very rare that i need to bring them in the bathroom with me anyway.

I currently either a)leave the door open so he can see me or b)bring him into the bathroom and sit him on his potty to 'practice'.

I only ever brought him in once while I peed. It was a little difficult to do because we have a small bathroom on the main floor.

If we're upstairs, I plop her in her crib and tolerate her screaming (if she's in her crib, she thinks it's sleeping time). If we're downstairs, I plop her in the living room (which isn't furnished) and go to the bathroom with the door opened so I can see her. Most of the time she thinks it's a game and laughs at me. Oh well.

What do you do with your LO when you have to go?
