@littlek: @mediagirl: yesterday despite being fed and rested, he followed me around the whole time whining mamammamamama ememememem amammaam. Why is it "mamam" when he whines and "dadada" when he is excited/happy?

I pack everything I can the night before. LO often sleeps til 7 (so I get up before then and do everything I can), but sometimes she throws a wrench in things and gets up at 5:30 or 6. I've baby-proofed the bathroom but left a drawer that she can open that is full of toys or things I don't care if she plays with while I shower and get ready. Other than that, the high-chair, pack-n-play, or quarantined in our babyproof-ed bedroom & closet are my go-tos.. The mornings when she is super-clingy are definitely a challenge though.

So, I don't get ready for work every morning, but if I have to get ready while LO is awake, I put her in the high hair in the bathroom with baby einstein on the iPad. It buys me enough time to do at least 75% of my routine.

@littlk: we have linoleum but we have rubs in there so, if she fell, she would probably fall on rugs. Haha and I hear you on pulling up on everything. :)

@littlek: I can buy myself a 5 minute shower if he's in the jumper....and then usually while I make my lunch (and pack up diaper bag) he's in his highchair distracted by puffs or banana chunks. And then he just chases me around the house while I get ready the rest of the way. I need to watch him more closely today, because he got into our drycleaning bag and somehow found a paperclip in it and was about to put it in his mouth when i caught him!

@littlek: I've started getting up earlier than her to shower. Once I've showered, I get dressed and by then she's up. I bring her into the bedroom/bathroom and she usually sits there and watches for a while before she gets frustrated. Our bedroom/bathroom/closet are all baby proofed so she can wander around those pretty easily without getting into TOO much trouble.

@winniebee: What did you end up doing? B has been waking up around 6 a.m. and I'm struggling figuring out what to do with him while I shower and get ready. He's not very mobile now, but he rolls over to our bed and is trying to pull himself up which freaks me out that he will hurt himself.

LO was pretty happy watching me, especially if I was talking to him or singing to him, so he'd stay in his high chair pretty happily for a while.

Also, he used to be awful about waking up early, and he still doesn't sleep in like some kids, but he did quit waking up before 6 AM every day around the 15 month mark, and now (22 months), he usually wakes up between 6:30 and 7 which makes SUCH a difference!

@winniebee: Yeah, I really just tried to get as much as possible done the night before (like showering or picking out clothes or packing up my purse for the next day), and I'd have DH (if he was leaving first) carry stuff out to the car on his way out for me (like DH's lunch/bottles, anything I wanted to take to work, etc.). Anything to make it easier for me to get out of there in the morning. And I moved a toothbrush, hairbrush, makeup, contact stuff, etc. to the downstairs bathroom so I could do a lot of that while LO was eating in his high chair.

@Lozza: That's where I'm at right now. 5:30 wakeup, can't wake up earlier, he doesn't want to really be in jumper and can't really be left alone either. Makeup goes on at work!

I stopped showering in the morning, honestly.
We also had a period when DS was mobile and didn't want to be in the exersaucer or jumper, but couldn't really be left non-well-attended, and was waking up between 5 and 5:30 AM (so it's not like I was going to wake up before him). I just stopped ever trying to shower in the morning, and would often bring things like clothes and makeup downstairs with me so I could get ready while he was in the high chair eating his breakfast or drinking a bottle.

@Rainbow Sprinkles: too cute!! This is why i cannot leave LO in the high chair unsupervised, because there is a 99% chance she will try to climb out of it.

I would probably bring her into the bathroom with me while i shower with tons of toys. I feel so bad that he is still waking up at 5:30!

@Rainbow Sprinkles: OH, okay, that's where I was having trouble. I kept looking at it going, did she fall asleep on her toys? If so, why does she look so high up in the air (I'm looking at the knob next to her head...)

It looks like something Henry would do. I found him on top of a box just last week trying to climb his bookshelf. Scared the bejesus out of me.

I do the same as @BabyBoecksMom on the weekdays (I'm a SAHM but sometimes I don't shower when he's napping). It helps that we have glass shower doors. He mainly just sits there and looks at me instead of playing with his toys.
