We can get an appt with our GP next day if we want, but his usual diagnosis is "don't worry, it'll be ok". I wonder if GPs here actually have any specific infant training--one of my Mum friends is a GP and she's admitted that half the time she doesn't have a clue either. Don't even get me started on heath visitors!!! When you read on here that people asked their pediatrician about their baby's milk intake or whether they should be rolling over by now etc. Your baby has to be very ill for you to get near a ped here and, even then, you'd be lucky to actually see one and not a student. We don't have a specific pediatrician - all our health concerns (the baby, adults etc) are dealt with by the GP (general practitioner = family doctor) and if the baby has a serious health concern (like a heart murmur or something) you are referred to pediatricians working at the hospital. She also goes to her Pediatrician for well baby visits, but they don't do the shots. </p>
