My son has slept in a few places...it was like musical nursery for a bit. I bought a crib for him and he's stayed there, once in the same room with us and another time in a smaller bedroom.

He's also slept in a pack and play and in a bed with me. He used to be versatile, now he's more opinionated.

@Mrs. Chen: We started using it without the bassinet at 4 months. (Granted we didn't really use it at all for the two months previous). LO didn't hit 15 lbs until after 6 months, but she was rolling around at 4, so it seemed safer. Putting a sleeping baby in it is no harder than putting a sleeping baby in a lowered crib.

@weagle: @merryc: ah I see! At what age did you remove the bassinet and just use the bottom part? And also, is it hard putting down your LO all the way to the bottom? I guess because I still rock my LO to sleep and I'm picturing bending over to put her way down might be a challenge. Lol.

@futuremrsmck: good point! It can be tucked away for future grandkids!

My ILs have a very basic PnP they keep at their house (they bought it when the oldest grandson was born, so it's almost 10 years old at this point). They keep it tucked under the guest bed when it's not in use.

We use a pnp with a mattress, mattress pad and sheet...all in the bottom of the pnp. My kids slept poorly on just the included cushioned board, and do better with the extras (all cheaper stuff since it gets used very little).

You can get a cosco pnp at target for 49 regular price.

ETA, before we sleep trained, we just coslept and it was totally fine. Even after, we still cosleep one adult and one kid per bed when we go camping.

@Mrs. Chen: The mattress for the bassinet goes in the bottom. We use a quilted sheet, then another cotton sheet on top to add a little extra padding.

@weagle: @chopsuey119: thanks! we actually have a graco pack n' play at my parents for when they babysit and it's great! but i just read that the bassinet's weight limit is 15lbs?? umm LO is heavier than that! does your LO sleep in the bassinet or did you remove it and just use the bottom part (which doesn't look too comfy, unless you are suppose to get a mattress)?

MIL had a pnp that we used.
I would buy one and have it shipped. Lots of cheap ones on Amazon. We just put a thick blanket in the pnp at MIL's since it wasn't very comfy.

Both my parents and ILs have PnPs that we use. We only visit their houses 2-3x/year, but it's really nice to have the there. The most basic version isn't very expensive.

DH and I are taking LO on the plane for the first time to visit her grandparents and will be staying for a long weekend. She will be 7.5 months old. It just dawned on me that I'm not sure where she's going to sleep! She could sleep on the same bed as me, but that means DH would need to sleep elsewhere since it's a small bed. That's not a big deal but that also means I will have to watch her like a hawk when she naps because I'm paranoid she will roll off the bed when I'm not looking! OR we could buy a pack n' play or travel crib and leave it there but I wouldn't want to spend too much on it since we really won't be flying there THAT often. And I definitely do NOT want to travel with it. What would you do? Save money and just co-sleep or buy some sort of crib/pack n' play? Are there cheap ones (less than $50) you would recommend?
