Now she naps independently (really well!). I don't know that you really can mess them up, at least not too much. She didn't start sleeping in the room for naps (without me) until she was 5+ months old. I was okay with this though b/c I feel that's how we were created to sleep as infants... close to our mommas. She sleeps during the day fine independently now (we still co-bed part of the night). We didn't bother to try to have any consistency for where we put him down till he was 3 or 4 months old. She naps in her swing, bouncer or bassinet (part of the pack n play) in the living room. I reserve the crib for bedtime so she associates it as such. At 6 weeks she is now sleeping 5 plus hours at night in her crib. She will not sleep that long anywhere else so I know that she's associating the crib to bed time. We are using a R&P next to our bed for our newborn to sleep in at night. I assumed he would either nap in there (or we would bring the R&P out into the living room) or in his swing. My sister said that I should make him nap in his crib so he gets used to it and it will make the transition easier when it comes to sleeping in his crib at night. What did you do?
