(still dealing with this) Food - switching formulas to more expensive after 4 months Less: Diapers - we were gifted so many that I didn't buy diapers for 6 months. So I've never really complained about the cost of disposable diapers since we got them free for so long. I didn't really have any expectations on anything else. I got tons of hand me downs with DS1 (which DS2 can also use) but I still buy a lot of clothes for both. Luckily, they both liked the same bottles and the first ones we tried. I seem to buy a lot of everything because I don't like to always have to be washing or doing laundry. I guess I figure I'm doing well with cost per use! I told DH we need to have a 3rd so we can really get our money's worth out of all the baby gear we have! We got so much at our baby shower that she had clothes for the first year! With our second, she's gotten bigger faster & outgrew sissys clothing. I had to buy clothes for her because of her size and because the girls didn't match in size/season even though they were born around the same time! I spent a small fortune on sippy cups for our first. It took weeks & so much trial and error to find ones that she liked. Cloth Diapers- Ended up buying more than I thought I needed initially (got 12 to start, now have 21), needed a diaper sprayer, we go through a lot of detergent (but I think we're still coming out ahead of disposable diapers Sleep stuff- swaddle sacks and merlin suits and sleep sacks, oh my! Eating stuff- so. many. bottles. (trying to figure out what she'll take), formula (special allergenic stuff, sigh), mesh bags and straw cups.. so much stuff! Less: Clothes! LO is 6 mo and I've probably spent less than $50 total on clothes for her. We've gotten hand me downs and gifts and honestly she doesn't have that many things in her rotation but I just feel like... why spend money on this? She's cute regardless and I just don't feel the need to spend money here at all. Toys- We've spent 0. Between hand me downs and gifts and now christmas coming up... just haven't had to. how about you?
