@MrsLonghorn: @gingerbebe: our infant seat didn't come with strap covers, and I know you aren't supposed to put anything in between the car seat and baby that isn't from the manufacturer, but the straps used to leave bright red marks on her neck (I also may have over tightened them). I took two very thin baby wash cloths and wrapped them around the straps near her neck and it took car of it. I felt better using that than a bulkier strap cover that didn't come from the car seat manufacturer- plus I only needed it for a few more months and didn't feel like buying something new.

@MrsLonghorn: We will do middle as long as we can since middle is a lot safer. (So, as long as we have a big enough car and only one LO!)

Infant seat was middle in our old car because it basically left zero room for the passenger if we had it on the side. Once we switched to RF convertible, that was on the passenger side.

@MrsLonghorn: Our infant bucket goes up to 32 inches and he is just about crossing that "1 inch of headspace" zone. The convertible should be here any day now but we are using the Cosco until then! The Cosco straps have no padded cover and it was rubbing Sam's neck when we cinched the harness so I pulled the covers off his bucket for now but ordered a few pairs of fun covers to keep him more comfy.

Her infant seat was in the middle but her convertible won't fit and even if it did, it would be impossible to get her in an out since it isn't just a single set and click anymore. Plus with #2 on the way, the middle wouldn't be possible with another infant seat.

Middle for both. I kind of "fold" DS up before putting him in the convertible so it's not as hard for me to put him in. DH drives a big SUV so it's a bit harder to climb up and put him in, but it works well for us.

Infant seat was in the middle because it for best there in our old car. We had the convertible RF in the middle too, but we got a new car and moved it behind the passenger seat. I find it much easier to install there and to buckle LO in securely from the side.

When new baby comes we will do infant seat behind passenger and convertible FF behind driver probably, unless DH can move the seat back far enough with it RF, which I doubt.

We test drive an RDX and weirdly, I could not install our nextfit securely with latch. Never figured it what the problem was.

In DH's car they've both been behind the passenger seat, because his middle seat doesn't have the right parts for installing seats. I prefer the middle, though!

The infant seat and the Foonf RF was behind the passenger seat - they were both too big RF to be behind the driver's seat if Hubs was driving. When we turned D FF a month ago, we moved the Foonf behind the driver's seat. New baby's infant bucket will go back behind the passenger seat.

The infant seat was behind the passenger seat because it took up too much room for the driver side in our Jeep Grand Cherokee. The set up will be the same with our fancy convertible, which is en route, but I think the convertibles should take up a little less space in terms of leg room. We just bought a really cheap one for travel/DH's car (>10 pound Cosco Scenera NEXT from Walmart for $45 + $7 strap covers = WIN) for DH's Prius and installed the seat behind the driver side. DH's seat is all the way back because he's tall and the convertible fit behind it with room. The infant bucket could never have done that in the Prius.

If you have only one car seat, where is it?

We have his bucket seat in the middle, but he just hit 29" so we are about to switch to a RF convertible. The infant bucket is really easy to get out from the middle, but I wonder if it will be easier to take him in/out if I put the rear-facing convertible on the side...

If it matters, I drive an Acura RDX (crossover/small suv) and DH drives a Mazda 6 (sedan)
