We drop him off together and then drive to a subway stop to commute into the city-- the drive is about 15-30 mins depending on traffic. Kind of stinky to drive and then take the train, but it's much more convenient and flexible (and cheaper!) than taking the commuter rail into our town. And we've already had to pick up a feverish RJ from daycare once, so we don't regret choosing a daycare near home at ALL. Friends have suggested looking closer to home, both because spending time in the car with baby isn't really good time spent together, and because you never know what could happen with a job, and then you might have a daycare that is near nothing. I also think it's better to have daycare close to home, though. I highly recommend finding a daycare close to home. Ours happens to be ultra convenient for my husband, but is in completely the opposite direction for my commute (and I am the primary drop off parent). You don't want to imagine a time when your baby is sick, but it is likely to happen that you will need to leave work to pick up a sickie at aome point. My husband and I were talking about this the other day. I work 30 miles and he works 45 miles away from home. Thankfully we work in the same direction. We will have to decide if we should get a daycare near home and have that option there or spend more time with our LO and have daycare near work. </p> <p>Where is yours? </p>
