I think I read on HB somewhere that one lady's doctor told her that a lot of women have normal cycles up until they start TTC, and then they get wacky from nerves and stress.

@PEAPIE: oh okay! Well I am sorry that AF did show, but I am sure it was a relieve to figure out what was going on. All of you guys are already making me feel a little bit better, which will hopefully help lower the stress level. But like you said, it's hard!
I will also maybe try temping and just see what happens. I need to do a little more research on it.
@daniellemybelle: thanks for that! It is just weird when they have been so normal and then when you get one out of whack cycle, I go crazy! While I wouldn't want it to happen for anyone, it is nice to see that I am not the only one this has happened to.

I had somewhat regular cycles before we got pregnant - usually around 28 days - but then I had one that was 39 days and I freaked out about it. Still, I got pregnant really super easily. I don't think an occasional out of whack cycle is anything to worry about unless they are like 50+ days, or completely all over the map for months on end.

I was just thinking the same thing a few days ago! But AF finally came. In my case I think I ovulated later than usual due to stress around O time and that's what pushed AF back a week. Thanks to charting, and some clever HB's, we could kind predict what was going on from my chart. Which relieved a little stress...

I would give temping a shot. Just try it for one cycle and see how it works with your schedule. It might not be an issue!

And try not to stress, it really does have an effect on your cycle! So also try not to stress that you're stressing too much... Its hard.

@runnerd: yeah, that is what I was thinking. Our bodies do some crazy things, just wish mine wasn't acting so crazy during this process. This just might be my turn for that extra long cycle.

Sounds like maybe you didn't O at normal time this month? My cycles are usually about 35 days long, but about every 4 or 5 cycles I have a crazy 40-50 cycle for no reason

@T.H.O.U.: No, I haven't taken any sort of birth control for the past 3 years. We have just been using condoms until we finally decided to TTC.

Hope you all don't think I am totally cray cray, just trying to figure all this out!

@meredithNYC: maybe. I have been cramping like AF would arrive at any second for about the past 1 and 1/2 weeks, but she never shows. eek, driving me bananas.
@pui: lol, I know! I am trying my very best. I am sorry you are also struggling with missed periods. I am newer to boards (well, new at posting, I have been semi-stalking for the past couple months). Everyone here seems super supportive and I appreciate your support .
@NorCalWayfarer: I have read TCOYF, but thanks for the recommendation! I read it once I knew we would begin to TTC. I know stress can totally throw things off, but of course I cannot help but stress during a time like this!

Have you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility? It's really informative and talks about the fact that stress/travel/etc can cause delayed ovulation.

Good luck!

Periods can occasionally be late for no apparent reason. There are a ton of things that can cause a delayed period. It's possible you simply O'd late because of some unknown reason. It happens to every woman every once in a while.

Since you usually have nice, consistent cycles, I wouldn't worry about it.

I would start testing once a week for the next 2 weeks until you either get a BFP or AF. If neither show up by then, I would go to the doctor.

So! This past cycle of mine is about to drive me to the edge. Okay, not really, but I could use some insight.

(FYI-We have been TTC for the past 2 months. This is our 2nd cycle trying.)

For the past 2 years, my period has been consistently ranging from 33-37 days. Usually, AF will greet me around day 35. I am currently on cycle day 42. So, naturally on the first day of my missed period, I took a HPT. BFN. I wait a couple of days. BFN. I took another one this morning. BFN. Not even a hint of any sort of line. I have been using OPKs for the past 4 months, just to gauge my cycle. I have gotten positive OPKs on days 18-21. I did not get a positive this cycle, but we BD anyways. Our BD schedule was on day 16, day 18, and day 19. Unfortunately, after that, we were not able to BD anymore due our crazy schedule mismatch. So, I really did not think this would be our month anyways. However, where the heck is my period! I would never think I would want it to come, but I kind of just want it to show up so I can get started on the next cycle.

I don't track my temps. I work night shift and I think it would be difficult to follow any sort of trend since I wake up different times all throughout the week. I try to track my CM, but this month it seemed like it was here all month. I mean, really!

So now that ya'll have some background, what would your game plan be? Is this the kind of thing you would make a gyno appointment for? I was thinking that if AF didn't arrive within 2 weeks of being late, maybe then I would call my dr. up?

If you have read all of that, I totally appreciate you. No one warned me that this TTC business was going to make me go crazy!

I know that 2 months of trying isn't really that much time at all and I know it can take much, much longer, but this cycle has me feeling loony. Where oh where is she! Thanks everyone.
