My LO would only sleep on me or in the swing for naps until she was 4-5 months old . When we moved her out of our room and into her nursery, we started doing all naps in the crib at the same time. Now she has a tough time sleeping anywhere else!

I would go with what works for now!
@Foodnerd81: yes...boob naps FTW. This is the phase we're dealing with right now.

@Stacy: yeah she is way way way better now, but every once in a while, mostly if she is teething and just can't fall asleep, we will still do a boob nap. It's one of the reasons in just never going to wean! (She's almost 11 months)

My older son only napped for 20-30 minutes until he was about 8 months old, so I let him be wherever he fell asleep (sofa, bed, etc). I didn't see the point in moving him to his crib for 20 minutes. DS2 actually takes longer naps so we've been trying to have him sleep in his crib for at least one nap a day if not more. Other than that, he naps in the swing or in the bassinet attachment from the pnp which are both located in our den.

@Foodnerd81: I'm so glad someone else LO does this, we'll not glad but I'm in the same boat. Both my kids were like this. I go back to work in 2 weeks and LO is going to be in for a real transition when there is no boob all day to nap on!

following! LO is 6 weeks old and has never been a great day napper. I usually let her nap wherever I can get her to (which 50% of the time is on me or in the moby, 50% is in her bouncer or swing). Her crib is 3 floors away so I don't think I want to put her in that to nap bc I don't want to climb all those stairs lol. But I could put her in her PNP which is what she sleeps in at night (in our room). I guess I'd just have to set up the monitor so I could watch her? We haven't used our monitor yet bc we always just go to bed when she gets tired! haha

You could definitely give it a try! I think at this point, her days and nights will be straight and she won't be too confused. Maybe leave the curtains open and stuff so that it's still light in her room during the day, but at least it'll be quieter.

By 8 weeks I was putting her in her room with the sound machine on, in her rock and play. Like you, household noise was waking her up, and I needed to be able to move around and get stuff done on those rare occasions that she napped. She never seemed to have big issues with the day and night thing. Our bigger issue was that she just didn't want to sleep unless she was attached to my boob, so that's another story.

DS was also a swing napper until 4.5 months. Even though he slept in the crib at night just fine. We slowly transitioned him to the pnp or crib. He was a chronic catnapper too, so with the transition we were able to work through both issues!

Good luck!

So....I have been having LO nap in the swing(the only place she will sleep!) in the family room since we came home. I was doing this because the family room is bright/semi loud so she could get the day/night reversal situation situated. I think she has it straight now. Well, now that she is 8 weeks old, should I be putting her to nap in our bedroom (where she sleeps at night)? Sometimes this napping in the family room isn't working because household sounds (doorbell, washing dishes, etc) wake her up much earlier than I think she would prefer. But I don't want her to get confused either and think its nighttime! Grrr....baby sleep is so mystifying!
