Very good advice from PPs!

I never had much of a supply, so it was hard to build a stash. I only nursed on one side at each session, so I would pump on the other side in the morning session to get the most milk. It took a few days to have enough for one bottle, but once I started giving her the bottle, I would pump as she drank.

i started by pumping about 30 mins - 1 hr after the morning session, and got about 2 ounces total. once you build up enough for a sinlge feeding, then its easy to integrate pumping in because LO will drink a bottle and then you pump for that feeding. not sure how old your LO is, but when they start sleeping longer stretches at night, you'll have more milk to pump in the morning. and when LO starts going to bed earlier, you can pump before you go to bed. and thats when you can start your stash.

I agree with pumping on the side he doesn't feed on, or I used to pump right after he ate since I was pretty engorged once my milk first came in.

Does he feed off of both sides at each feeding. Pumping the side he doesn't feed on is a good place to start. If he feeds off of both sides, then you can try pumping about an hour after he eats. It also depends on how old your LO is. I would wait until he's 4-6 weeks to really start pumping, after your supply is established. Pumping too much along with nursing early on can cause an oversupply.

Does he have a longer sleep stretch when you first put him down at night? That's a good time to sneak in a pumping session too.

How do I start building a stash while the baby is nursing? Should I be pumping after he eats? I don't want to have enough for him... Help!
