But it really is a great city. There's great parks and many restaurants with playgrounds attached which is fun. Food is fab and we have a cool children's museum. There's also cute little towns nearby that you can drive to for a day trip. Then, there's all the live music. </p> <p>Can you tell that I love living here? Lol.</p> <p>Edit: Crap, I just noticed you said summer... it can get really effing hot here. There's a bunch of sprinkler parks though! I have some places I need to research.</p> <p>Love the idea of Austin. And Chicago is a great place to vacation. Although I'm trying to stay away from TOO big a city since I think it will be easiest to do a rental property somewhere and perhaps rent a car for transportation since we'll need carseats and such. I lived 45 minutes south in high school so I forget that it is a 'vacation spot' since it was so easy to get up there.</p> <p>I'll also throw in St. Louis - husband &amp; I went on a long weekend and had a ton of fun. Both are clean, vibrant cities, have lots of outdoorsy things to do, and and child friendly. They will be around 20 months when we are planning the trip next summer and we’d like to go for about a week. She lives in California and I live in Florida and we are looking to meet somewhere “in the middle”. I don’t know that area of the country that well and would love some suggestions. Preferably somewhere that’s relatively easy to get to via plane. Close to some sort of body of water would be great, but not a requirement. Basically looking for a fun place to visit and if it’s kid-friendly as well, that’s a bonus! </p> <p>I figure since there are so many of us from around the US on these boards that there might be some good ideas out there. So shout out about your hometown or favorite vacation spot! </p>
