Our local consignment sale is in 2 weeks so I will see what I can find there. Love the simple jersey dresses at H&M; we tend to stock up because they're such a good deal. Sandals from Old Navy serve us well for a season. We like Gymboree for occasion/church clothes. The end result of this is that DS needs to sleep in long sleeve PJs year round because he's either going to get cold when the temp drops overnight, or because the AC is blowing on him all night long. SO. When Carter's sells their PJ 4-packs, there's always 1-2 that are pants + short sleeve top that he can't wear to bed at night because he will get cold and wake up and make my life miserable. Answer: When DS is chilling at home, he's wearing those short sleeve PJs - they are soft and comfy and I don't care if they get thrashed, and the long pants keep him from scuffing up his knees so bad when he's tearing around the park. For daycare basics, I don't bother with nice clothes either - I mostly go for comfort since he has to nap and I imagine sleeping in jeans or a collared shirt is annoying. I like the cotton of the t-shirts and shorts at Target - they are soft and wash well. I can usually get then for $3 a piece when there's a sale. Occasionally I can get similar stuff from Old Navy or Kohl's, but its just faster to pick up a few things when I'm already at Target.
