I think it depends on if you want to do a lot of things vs. just getting the r&r that will be hard to come by once baby arrives. We did Kauai for our baby moon and it was a little slow for me, but we still LOVED it and agreed that we wouldn't want to bring an infant or toddler to Kauai because it seemed really inconvenient. We would definitely do Oahu and Maui with a LO though.
My only concern with NYC (which I also did a trip to when I was 11 weeks pregnant) is the weather next week? Is it snowy/icy? I know going up to the mountains, I have been sooo scared of slipping on the ice, I pretty much stayed in the whole time. If it's not icy, I say NYC is totally doable too if you want more excitement instead of r&r!

Tough choice. We went to Hawaii for our babymoon and it was the perfect balance of relaxing and fun excursions, but based on your reasoning I would probably choose NYC, esp if it has special meaning to you. Hawaii would definitely be easier to go to with a baby... and I personally love walking so the idea of roaming NYC streets wouldn't deter me. Plus, it's probably so Christmassy and holiday-ish over there right now! I would love to be in NYC during this time of year!

I'd go to NYC too... the city has special meaning to us as well because we got married and started our family there, so I can understand why you'd want to go. I think the walking shouldn't be a problem... There's the convenience of taking cabs or the bus everywhere. It's cold in December, but not freezing like in Jan and Feb... Plus all the holiday decor...

I'm super biased though... We also went to a big city in the winter for our babymoon. We went to Paris at the end of November. I was 28/29 weeks at the time. Walked and took the metro everywhere. We loved it!

Have fun whatever you decide! Hawaii without kids sounds fabulous too... We honeymooned there and also went last year with the two girls... It was fun with the family, but still very different :)

@sunny: That's exactly along my lines of thinking too... that it will be a loooong while before we head to NYC..but we can always go to Hawaii with a baby in toll.

I would say warm and beach, because I live pretty close to NYC and grew up going there all the time, so it wouldn't be that special. But that's pretty solid reasoning you have.
I just really want a beach vacation right now :)

I'm due in July, so we are hoping to go someplace warm and relaxing, but probably less than 2 hours from here, early in the summer.

We had the same 2 choices and we decided on NYC! Our rationale was the same-NYC isn't a place that we would easily be able to take an infant (in particular, to any Broadway shows). We can always visit the beach with a baby.

There is a lot of walking but we bought a metro card and took the bus as much as we needed to, even a few blocks. The toughest part for me was getting up and down the subway stairs. I needed to just take my time and New Yorkers did not always appreciate me being in their way!

I had a blast tho and I was about 25 weeks as well when we went.

I would go to Hawaii! That's where we went and it was AWESOME. I think NYC would require too much walking? I don't know. All I remember was how relaxed I felt in Hawaii....warm weather, blue water, luaus, good food.... ahhhhhh

DH and I were planning to go to Hawaii next week (I'll be 25/26 weeks by then), but then over dinner last night, the idea of going to New York instead came up. Our rationale was that NYC is not a place we'll vacation with a baby/toddler/kid so we probably won't go for a loooong time, whereas we can always take the baby to Hawaii as a family. NYC is where our relationship began so it would be meaningful to go again before we start the next chapter of our lives. But as a pregnant lady, I'm worried about the weather and walking in NYC.

WWYD? (What would you do?)
