I counted recently we have almost 200 for 1 child. I donate books to the library if I don't like it myself/don't enjoy reading it.

The only way I can bring myself to purging LOs precious books is by giving them to a friend. I think about which friend would want which one and it helps say goodbye. To me they are all good if I chose them. If I didn't choose them, it is much easier to give away.

We have pretty much kept all of the books we've gotten because we have a younger one so I guess we'll get rid of books once he starts outgrowing them... We do have a ton though...

The only type of books I'm donating at this point are ones that we/I never liked or ones that aren't good quality. (Actually, if they're really bad, I trash them.)

Good picture books are definitely still worth keeping in early elementary and even the board books with stories in them can be useful for reading practice. I may get more selective about what stays as we go on.

I tend to donate "B rated" books, ones that aren't of the best quality/writing.

Classics are always in my keep pile. After that, I look at books we've all loved the most.

Our book shelves are overflowing.

How do you decide which books to keep and which to save? We do have multiple places in the house so I can rotate them some. Right now I have 3 level readers (infant/board books, toddler/simple stories, elementary/early reader)
